Maybe it's a sign of the times, but as an avid kiddy MMO player back when I was a child, I don't recall games like Toontown, Club Penguin, Wizard101 etc. ever having an issue with predators, nor do I have any personal stories about creepy/suspect encounters. You could attribute this to the fact none of these games allowed UGC, but even so, Roblox certainly has the resources to painstakingly vet what kind of content gets through.
Fortnite is the only modern kiddy game I really know about, but I don't think they have it as bad over there either.

Moviestarplanet (2009) and comparable mmos (i think also habbo hotel?) at the very least had a ton of disturbing roleplay (using emotes, clothing items etc). I used to think it was just kids being stupid between eachother back them but it wouldng surprise me if some of those were adults and also sending disturbing dm's to kids who didnt know how the report button works.

This is unlikely to be a good thing. What is likely to happen from this drama is that more and more restrictions will be placed on those who use the site. The UK helped lead this practice with the Online "safety" act. Which, through the paternalist lens of a lawmaker means putting restrictions on people and blocking them to use sites. Instead of you know, having parents do shit (it's easier to get votes that way).

The easiest means to do this for sites would be to take away all domains, all sites and have a filtered means of experiencing the web and things like TOR will exist primarily for the experience of state purposes (granted, this means they'd lose out of having independent relays increasing the risk of detection). Which to sound like a conspiracy tard means that ROBLOX will be #winning because it is an investment for the meta-verse future where there will be less competition.

Toontown in particular had pretty good safeguarding in place. You had a (fairly comprehensive) set of preset phrases available to you that were more than adequate for any situation in the game. If you wanted free chat, you needed another user's friend code which was meant to limit free chat to people who already knew each other outside of the game.

Of course people found a way to get around it by jumping to indicate numbers and placing coloured furniture for letters, but the free chat still had extremely comprehensive filtering. Given that it pre-dated the more popular off platform chats I'd be surprised if there was even a whiff of a predator problem in the game.

Can't comment on the various revival projects that exist other than that they're both developed and enjoyed by age regressing troons and autists so I'd imagine grooming would be a concern - but I'm sure they have a maximum of about 300 regular players across all versions so who cares.

Agreed, ROBLOX is needing to do just enough so that they can seem like they are doing enough (which is achieved by off shore moderation, with the added excuse that they don't speak so good as part of their masterplan). Pedos bring in money, they are big spenders. They create UGC shit. Part of this is trying to stop people from covering up the pedo infestation. This also relates to the previous teddy drama where ROBLOX purposely "banned Teddy" after their first investigation, with his games being put under new leadership. I decided to look through the followers of the account, @xannyymommyy, which he was tributing and found some accounts that stood out amongst the hundreds of "roblox tributers"

First, I found this account @gooner.ruined claiming to be 16 years old with about 800 followers posting the same kind of tribute content


Another account which stood out, @tribslut4u, with a MAP emoji on his profile


This account, @disparatenuguuner, stood out the most reminding me of a traditional EPI predator, they have published no videos but looking through their following and followers reveals some extremely alarming stuff


Looking through their followings, I saw an account which instantly alerted me, An actual EPI fetishist posting porn on TikTok with about 11 thousand followers
