My genuine esoteric analysis is that troons like Kidd actually get off on subversion. I agree that something like Hatred could face more scrutiny because it's an indie game. But compared to something like GTA 5 which made $800 million in the first day, & $985 million off microtransactions in 2021, I don't believe they're gonna come down on violent games as hard. Especially because the US government has already tried that for decades & gotten nowhere unless the ESRB is a bad thing. & I haven't seen an example of them forcing a violent game to come down yet but the right game could make it happen.
There is a certain black comedy to it, in a "if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off" way. Like if someone convinced bossman that he should start wagering years of prison time.
