Did Monty drop the case because he wanted Nick to stop calling him a pedophile? Think about it, if Nick goes back to calling him a pedo, then he could hypothetically sue him again for defamation. If Nick gets sued, that would get him into serious trouble with his probation? I could be wrong: is it possible that because Monty dropped the suit, he's not allowed to sue again? I don't know, that's why I'm asking.

It was probably down to purchasing power. Unfortunately good will and charity can only go so far against petrofac trust funds and an unscrupulous, unethical lawyer already punished by the bar.

Sadly, in the real world, oftentimes the bad guys win by default because they're better equipped.
Randazza is worse than any opposing counsel Nick has ever faced.
He was suspended by the Nevada Bar for conflict of interest and self-dealing, blurred ethical lines when representing extremist clients and is a philosophical hypocrite, both promoting and attacking Anti-SLAPP whenever convenient.

I can foresee Aaron bring in the ex-wife as a witness to testify that she has asked Melton to stop before. I would not be shocked if she also files one at the same time.

No. I am pretty sure he dropped it for the reasons he said he did. He simply couldn't put together the scratch to take it all the way.

He can hypothetically sue again, as it's not dismissed with prejudice. The issue here is he might have a harder go of it if he tried now, because Minnesota has implemented an anti-SLAPP law after Monty sued. One that, despite Randazza's claims to the contrary, would not have applied to his soon to be dismissed case. He probably would be able to clear the new anti-SLAAP, but having one just makes things more difficult for a plaintiff.

The bitch of is, Monty had a good path forward here legally. Just not financially.

He started the lawsuit because he wanted Nick to not call him a pedophile with no evidence. He dropped the suit because he couldn't continue to afford it. Discovery is the most expensive part of the lawsuit, and Nick and Randazza were running up the bill with stupid motions.

There's a reason people/companies with more resources do that to people without them: because it works.

If he wants to drop a lawsuit, he can. If he wants to bring a new lawsuit, he could do that too. It'd be under Minnesota's new anti-SLAPP laws that didn't apply to his previous lawsuit (but Nick/his attorney pretended applied to it).

That's the only way I could see them granting restraining orders against Melton for Aaron's kid but not granting protective orders against Nick

That is very interesting, the time period Aaron petitioned for sharing of private sexual images is the dates that Hackamania occured.
Also this looks incredibly incomplete. Aaron couldn't have been successfully awarded this TRO without giving context to these dates.
I hope we get to see the granted ex parte motion sometime soon from a source, because this looks nothing like Aaron's successful application against Nick.
