Is anything else happening in the country, or is it 100% nonflict border squabbling?

I think most Americans don't actually think Iran is a threat to us. And they would be right if we minded our own business.
Most boomers do. Actually got into an argument with my parents. On the one hand, they see the threat of a 9/11 event either being set up or allowed to happen to push people towards war. On the other, Iran is weeks away from a nuke and they could attack us or our Greatest Ally!

>Some ME shithole gets bombed
>People getting into hysterics
Why does it even fucking matter. Trump also recently bombed Yemen and nobody gave a shit, why is this shit any different. Report back when ground troops get involved lmao.
bombing Yemen was a huge waste of money. It wasn't effective when Biden was doing it and it didn't become more effective under Trump, to the point that Trump agreed to a ceasefire with the Houthis. The costs of bombing countries never get brought up when it comes to Israel, but this shit is not cheap. You should care because you're paying for it. For no real reason.

I am assuming you are American. Perhaps you are Isreali and you really do benefit from this.

The average American will see zero benefit from this action (and probably will even suffer some detriment because gas prices are going to rise), but this directly contributes to the long-term encircling of Russia and isolation of China, which is good for the empire as a whole.
The average American isn't even going to remember this nothing burger in a few weeks.

Edited because my shitty grammar was annoying me

U.S. politics? In the U.S. politics thread? What are you crazy? We need at least one more Captain Planet discussion before another Mexican retread tire debate before we can do that fren

I don't think we will be dragged into boots on the ground but Trump just gave the midterms away, so good job
Explain why bombing a ME shithole correlates with losing the midterms? The only "real" ammunition for the dems is to say that Trump bombed Iran, as if that sole point will revive 20 million voters for the dems.

Yeah this, lol. Remember anyone that thinks the dems will get any advantage instead of being retards is a fool.

Bill Clinton Endorses Andrew Cuomo for New York City Mayor

Former President Bill Clinton will offer a last-minute boost of support for former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo by endorsing him in the New York City mayor’s race on Sunday, the last day of early voting.
And back to the same ol for now:

Get a useless piece of shit country. One with usually a detestable population. But ultimately no ability to counter a serious superpower.
Only difference here is that I don’t think the average Iranian is as brainwashed as their regime likes to make it seem. That isn’t to say that they’ll greet America as some liberator. None of us were born yesterday. My point is that any war between these two countries would be all the more tragic because the average Iranian probably has nothing against the average American and vice versa. But this all changes quickly when you invade a place. Let us not forget that Ho Chi Minh quoted the Declaration of Independence regularly before America was his enemy.

Although, I have to say that MAYBE my perception of Iran is being shaped by the proponents of regime change more than I realise. Let me know if you’ve heard the following line before:
There’s a moderate pro democracy faction in politics /section of the population in [insert adversary] that can be rallied when we’re done.
Given the American outlook on the world these sorts of lies are particularly common. During the Iran Contra fiasco the Israeli intelligence apparatus regularly told Reagan’s people that there was a moderate element in Iran’s regime that would be emboldened if America sold Iran missiles.
(This is another can of worms. Basically, Israel had a secret deal with Iran determining that if Israel helped it with its war with Saddam Hussein, they’d let Jewish Iranians repatriate to Israel. Bravo Israel. Bravo.)

Tl;dr: whenever someone tells you about some magical friendly element in a certain country always be careful about who’s telling you that

If gas prices shoot through the roof from a Strait closure that'd be enough to rile the average person that barely pays attention to politics.

But we're a while yet from midterms. We'll see.

Do you guys really think Iran should've just been left alone? I don't think Iran was just talking shit whenever they scream "death to America", thinking they'd never get the capability to hurt the United States and should've just been ignored strikes me as extremely naive.
Basically, yes. Or at least let Israel do it.

Iran was definitely looking to get nukes. But without ICBMs, they are little threat to us. They might nuke Israel, which would admittedly suck because of the inevitable billions we would have to sink in to resettle Jews and giving aid.

But really it's all sandnigger and sandnigger violence. I don't want my taxpayer dollars to pay for being the World Police anymore.

Comparing themselves to the OG Israelites is master level trolling, ngl.

The Houthis were bombing shipping lanes and that ended with bombing them. America is the global empire so they have the obligation to protect international shipping lanes from terrorists. Hate it, like it, but that is the cost of maintaining American hegemony.

I dunno, Republicans have done very poorly since the 2024 election. The special elections were a huge swing towards Dems (Republicans still won in some but there was still like 20 point swings). 2026 could be very bad for you guys unless fatty gets his act together

This doesn’t mean I like the democrats either, there’s a brilliant thing called staying at home because both candidates that could actually win are more committed to Greater Israel then making Americans lives better
Ill put up with it because instead of Dems opening the border Republicans are shutting it and bombing browns. Not perfect but net positive.
