Their main function is to collect any additional evidence or testimony to use against the criminal, with transparency being a good benefit because they have the whole encounter recorded that they can show the public should people raise a stink. But the biggest problem here is Minnesota, who goes out of their way to protect criminals and only adopted bodycams out of national pressure to do so.

I mean the same could be said about weed but at least it's not as expensive, on the path to full legalization, lasts longer, and has some legitimate medical applications.

I view it like you do, from a logical position. It makes no sense. But I will tell you that I tried it one time, very good quality cocaine from a famous person, and the feeling that swept over me... well I can tell you, I knew in that moment of euphoria, that I had met my devil. It was an indescribably good sensation, and it was terrifying. I never touched it again. That was the one and only line of cocaine I ever did, twenty five years ago.

I think that small town corruption like this is a more specialized thing and might not be in her wheelhouse. Doesn't she generally comment on national news and politics? I wonder if there are any reporters known for looking into this kind of stuff who would find this case interesting. Like the kind of people who do longform substacks or podcasts over these things.

Right. They were identified as exhibits in his written motion, but not all exhibits were received into evidence. Two items were incorrectly marked as received, per the Order, which further stated that the record is amended to mark those items as "not accepted."

Someone somewhere in Kandiyohi County thinks that "not accepted" = not automatically public. I haven't seen authority either way (and the access statute doesn't speak in terms of exhibits, but rather evidence...and yes, my hair-splitting razor is sharp). Either Kandiyohi County is flat wrong because the items were "presented" by virtue of having been cited even though not formally offered or received into evidence in court, or "presented" is meant to equate either to "formally offered in court" or "accepted into evidence" by a Court.
