Basically, the game director of KCD made a game which catered to gamers who wanted a proper historical experience without liberal bullshit.
He was also openly against anything which did not accurately depict the medieval Era.
Then, all of a sudden after his company got bought out, he added gays and blacks to medieval Bohemia while also trashing fans who disagreed with these additions.

And yet it sold gangbusters. You need to listen outside the echo chamber. That includes Synth. The numbers don't lie. People didn't care. The game was fun. Which is what a game is supposed to be. Fun.

I agree on the sentiment, and in a lot of ways I myself ignore this stuff for games I'm truly interested it, KCD really doesn't seem for me, but I did it for RDR2 or Alan Wake 2 for example. However let's not forget this is all a reaction to 10+ years of cancel culture and calling anyone to the right of chomsky a nazi, getting them fired, and firing and denying any platform to any developer with views opposed to them.

Truthfully due to an oversight in the lore it's an underage gay romance (Hans Capon is 15 according to lore, well was until they retroactively patched all that out) and there's a few brown people and one black guy of decently significant plot importance. Is it the end of the world? No, but people pretending it's some really good based game because it has half as much gay shit and DEI as the others are delusional. Almost as delusional as the people that pretend a shitty game with a brown female main character is actually really good.

So goes to show that people need to stop seeking entertainment that only lines up with your morals and political values. You should only go on if you think it's actually quality and well made.

I don't think it's a pro-anime and anti-anime schism.

But the combat is a sidegrade from the original, meaning it's still janky and unpleasant.
