My theory is a general announcement was made to a group MNPublicRecords works with that his or her leaks could compromise the case against Nick. Now that the sentence has been made, there is nothing more that can be interfered with.

I interpreted his disappearance on him running out of shit to drop after Nick had the CHIPS case sealed.

Which means whatever he's got must be new, and not a leftover stockpile.
