I realized recently that I hadn't heard anything about Cain Velasquez in a while, the last being when his sentencing was postponed at the end of last year. Renee Hessling, Velasquez’s attorney, said at a court hearing Thursday that she objected to a sentencing recommendation of 30 years to life in prison proposed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. She later said in an interview that was a stark contrast from the seven-year, eight-month prison term recommended by the county Probation Department in a presentencing report.

Even assuming the judge just adopts the lesser sentence recommended by the Probation Department it's still a decent chunk of time, especially since Cain got bail so he hasn't been acquiring time served (which in California could have been doubled).

The same outlet also has another article with the dude Cain shot and his missus (for those that don't remember they're the parents of the man Cain was trying to shoot, who own the daycare where Cain's kid was allegedly abused). The only interesting bit amongst all their complaining was :

They are steadfast in proclaiming Goularte’s innocence, which they say is backed by a credible alibi and even video surveillance showing that he wasn’t at the day care when the sexual abuse of Velasquez’s son allegedly occurred.

“Harry told them where he was. We had surveillance footage showing he was not there, and they said they would come back to get it,” Patty Bender said. “They never came back to get it, and then they never checked his alibi.”

I'm not even sure how the alibi claim works considering the original reporting, which was allegedly based on access to court documents, claimed the abuse may have happened up to 100 times.
 
I haven't watched a UFC Fight Night in awhile but these first 4 prelims have ended in quick KO's for some reason I just felt this would be a good card and I was right so far anyway.
 
Amazing card to begin with, slowed down at the end and the last fight was downright unfortunate.

Kinda wanted them to give Song a point off just to force the draw and make everyone irate tho.

It really should have been a deduction though He got Vader Timed in both eyes. That was pretty fucked. Henry sold it magnificently though. What a fucking cunt. I love him for taking the entire five minutes and sitting down at the 4th lol

Rumor (one twitter vid where dana says he'd 'like to see it') suggests Weili is going to move up to FlyWeight to take on winner of Valentina/Fiorot. I'd favor Sevchenko over my asian waifu. Tons of experience, better striker, better at pure BJJ (weili wrestling edge), and has also fought Nunes TWICE. She aight scared of shit. Would be a great fight regardless.

Lapilus is the worst one since he was actually doing good, unlike Culi and Pearce who ran into a wall recently and started losing, though Josh was fun and arguably got robbed in two of those fights. I do wonder if Taylor simply fought out his contract and is looking to go to PFL and get paid more there, since he does have pull in France and PFL have already snatched some of the more popular fighters there.

10 fight card and Brundage/Marquez co-main LMAO. Most of the fights look fun on paper though, so there's that at least. Looking forward to Johnson/Temirov, Almeida/Silva, Haqparast/Ribovics and the main event. Chepe mauling Ramos should be good as well, rest is fine.
