I would really love for a remaster of the NES versions of Metal Gear Solid. I never understood why they never bothered. It would be a money maker. Although, they would have to recon a lot of stuff.
Would they? I thought that the asspull ending of MGS5 was done only so that MG and MG2 still made sense lorewise. All they would really have to do is make the game 3D and make it play like MGS1-3, and honestly not even that, just make the graphics 3D. There is a certain charm to the isometric entries, hell Ghost Babel is one of my favorite games in the franchise.

Kojima had two really good things going for him: A very gifted team of people working under him (especally the military writers, when one of them left 3 that's when it all went downhill) and a legit talented ability to ripoff multiple things at once.

Did Venom being a thing really do any better at that than just leaving it at "it was a body double"?
Not really, I would have preferred the final mission taking place in Outer Heaven and having the players figuring out the "plot twist" on their own too. Beyond lazy that you just get to replay the initial tutorial sequence in the hospital with a few extra cutscenes.
Even then, if you take out the body double or Venom out of the equation, this "plothole" was already solved years ago with MG2 Big Boss becoming a cyborg...which is literally what happens with Venom and his bionic arm anyways, showing it can be done in-universe.

I'm replaying mgs3 and I want to gush about how GOOD this game is.
This is a ps2 game but it's also the first game I've seen which actually has individual models for bullet casings. Most games use textures for bullet casings and the casings disappear to clean memory like with dead rising. This game on the other hand has actual models for bullet casings which can be seen on the ground and will never disappear. I actually mistook one for a frog which is the first time I noticed it. Same for darts, if you shoot someone with an mk22, you can actually see the dart on the person if you zoom in, it's a physical model. Mindblowing stuff. Also the ammo box pickups have the weapon name on them which is extremely cool.
In svyatagonj east (sorry for butchering the name) the shack has a broken floorboard in the room with the m63. Normally this would just be a invisible wall with missing texture in other games. But in this the floorboards are physical objects and the space is real, so you can shoot through it if you happen to be beneath it.
Lot of the finer details actually help gameplay like when you run out of ammo, guard holdups give you the ammo type you have least of, never any other type of ammo. The game actually checks your ammo types and replenishes them. It was really useful for the pacifist run when I had to abuse the hell out of the mk22.
Finally, the end fight is goated. If there is a game filled only with end type sense and track sniper battles, I would buy it 10 times over. Most other gimmick bosses in mgs suck, the fear sucks ass, psycho mantis is really shit to play, the pain never gives openings to hit him, the sorrow is just bad, volgins hand to hand combat is also terrible. But the end fight is just so good and satisfying to play through although I never seem to be able to find his parrot.
20/10 game of the decade. It doesn't seem like a 2004 game at all, it could've come out now and I still would've considered it a revolutionary 10/10 in the face of ubisoft garbage. Minor gripe, the original version is pretty bad and the subsistence camera upgrade is essential to play with.
It really is some collective insanity that people honestly are nostalgic for MGSV when imo it's the worst game of the series.
I really like mgsv, maybe because I'm more into gameplay so I like v and 3 a lot in contrast to 1 and 2 where story takes more precedence. It's definitely not the worst of the main entries, peace walker is definitely worse and if it were just me I would say it has better gameplay than 3 but is second best in the whole package. I know most hipsters like 2 cause of the memes but I really didn't like it when I first played it. 1 is just too ancient and linear and the msx games arent worth mentioning.

MGS5 was a comfy war sandbox, but anyone who claims that it's a GOTY or some hidden gem that would be redeemed with less cut content are morons. MGS5 was a good game, but not really a good MGS game, similarly to how Survive was a decent stealth/survival crafting game but not a good MGS game. If the final game was more like Ground Zeroes, then maybe people would hate it less.

I don't know how anyone can enjoy Death Stranding, it's a literal walking simulator. The shoehorned "combat" doesn't help, it just distracts from the main gameplay core.
mgsv was dogshit, kojima is a hack and he isnt a good enough writer that he couldnt do a big boss turns evil game instead of whatever the fuck peace walker and 5 were

It is definitely in my top 5 of all time, and it just makes me sad that Delta will butcher it. This is one game that doesn't need a remake, not now or ever. The graphics still hold up, the gameplay still holds up, the story and dialogue still hold up. It is a perfect game, as you mentioned the camera angles in the original release suck and some bosses are shit to play(this is a series wide issue), but overall MGS3 is one of the best bangs for your buck if you want a good stealth game with a great story, especially since Subsistence comes with MG1 and MG2 as a bonus. Original releases even had that Ape Escape minigame, which was sadly removed for Gen 7 HD remasters. Same goes for that awesome skateboarding minigame in MGS2.
Speaking of which, am I the only one bothered that they removed most of the blood in MGS2 after 1.0 release? The original had a whole lot gorier scenes, and it just feels off when you compare it to every other release that came after it. MGS2 is similarly an almost perfect game, but this is the one part that I never liked.

Is Delta a remake or a remaster? I've been grinding achievements on the Steam version of MGS3 so have the cutscenes baked into my short term memory. I re-watched the trailers for Delta immediately after fucking up a FOXHOUND run (again) and I was hit by the sudden realisation that all the motions and animations in the trailer are identical to those in the original. Like, they must be using the now over-20-year-old motion capture data from the original MGS3 and putting it onto new HD models. (I think they did that for Pachislot as well.)
Is that what Delta is? The same game but now super duper HD (i.e. a remaster?), or a proper remake (like Resident Evil 4?)

Yes it is essentially going to be a visual remaster like Bluepoint's shadow of the colossus on PS4. Same voice acting, motion capture, and geometry with certain QoL and game play improvements. Like apparently crouch walking has been added from MGSV. I think I read somewhere that they may have tweaked the guards behaviors to deal with the fact that you can crouch walk now, but nothing drastic.

I think its kind of a missed opportunity to not do a RE4 or RE2 style remake but I think Konami is being very cautious with this since this is going to be a sort of relaunch of MGS.

Ghost Babel had no right doing ANY of what it was able to do on that little piece of shit gameboy color. I dig the pixel art too, limitations breeding creativity and all that.

Most of the old mo-capped games hold up well, actual human movements don't age nearly as much as animated models. Silent Hill 2, Devil May Cry 3 etc.

I have no clue how this game got away with an E rating. Sure, it has no swearing, but it still has violence, even if it is just Gameboy Violence. Some of the bosses are fucked up too, for example Marionette Owl kills women and then makes, well, dolls out of their corpses, who are then re-animated and attack you using his psychic powers. His bossfight takes place entirely in the dark too, which makes him that much creepier. Makes Psycho Mantis look like a playful puppy in comparison.
Ghost Babel was a fantastic game that fully took advantage of the isometric gameplay, I think it did stealth much better than MG1 and sometimes even better than MG2. The puzzles were also pretty neat, the Nikita electrified floor and color coded cardboard box maze puzzles are among some of the best in the franchise. Music is fantastic as well, even if some of the tracks are remixes from MG2. Hell, the game even bothered to have an entire set of VR missions, something Twin Snakes never got. Shame it will always be forgotten, doubt Konami will ever remaster or port it.

One of the most retarded loresperg theorists ever. Not watching it but its absurd.

Holy shit I could not finish that. Dude complains about people not liking his theory for nearly 15 mins and constantly has dumb dramatic montages before he repeats a stupid point for like the 3rd time in a row.

People like this are why I hate the MGS fan base and I never wanna talk about the games despite how much I like them.

I've grown to hate the MGS fanbase.

This (quite cringe inducing) image summarizes it BUT omits the Mandela effect of Duran Duran - Invisible edits, which is both funny and on the same theme of information control that MGS2 had, but also it got so fucking annoying.

Missing the key element of 3 and 4, especially 4 also raping the lore and discourse around the games so disqualified.
