Speaking of Ron, at risk of embarrassing myself (more than usual) in forgetting some fundamental lore, was there ever a de facto explanation for why the much-discussed Ant and Ron show never materialised?

Re-watching the seminal O&A ‘Downfall’ video on YouTube, with an extended discussion on an AC show around 2015/2016 highlighting that the Ron collab was still very much ‘on’.

Does anyone know categorically why this never happened?
The way I remember it, Ron was blindsided by Keith the Cop who pulled some retarded stunt making a graphic of the ‘Ron and Anthony Show’ trying to entice/gather interest in getting Ron to CM. I don’t think Ron knew anything about it or it was just an idea being floated with no real plans to make it real. Ron was caught off guard by it and KtC basically embarrassed himself with the stunt.

Fact is Ron is beloved at SiriusXM and he probably already had the plan to do the show with his daughter after Fez was done. There was no way he’d leave the security and money SXM has to offer to join Ant’s racist pirate ship with no guarantee of real success.

It was one of many KtC blunders when CM launched.
That is not fully true. Ron and Keith were in talks to do the show for awhile. His deadline to resign with Sirius was approaching as talks were still being had. As people other people have said, he ended up resigning with Sirius largely due to the security of the position and the fact that even at that point he recognized Anthony was going off the rails.

The graphic was a mockup and Keith had released it as the Sirius deadline was approaching as way to get fans excited. He wanted to show Ron just how much interest and support there was from fans to do a show with Anthony. Ultimately it wasn't enough and Ron ended up staying with Sirius.
I like Ron, he's a funny guy but the from the small bit I can remember I do think he was in the wrong. Not that Ant's constant racism talk was any better.
It wasn't so much that he was in the wrong as much as the terrible dynamics that were in place. Ron had to fill in for Artie Lange and steer discussion of the show since Anthony just wanted to sit back and let Colin Flaherty rant about how inferior blacks were. Ron, a professional, was trying to do his best to run the show as a normal program while having to talk to a guest he didn't know anything about and who wanted to argue nonstop about race issues. It ultimately culminated in Ron getting mad and trying to reason with Anthony about the state of his life, which ended up parlaying into the most shocking revelation: that Anthony had abandoned his mother since she went into a nursing home for dementia.

The whole incident was incredibly damning of Anthony. It exposed that he was incapable of managing things properly in his work environment despite having been in the radio business for over twenty years. It once again highlighted how unhealthy his obsession with the topic of race and how it was destroying everything around him. It also further revealed that for all his bravado and tough talk, Anthony deep down was a cowardly individual who couldn't handle conflict or even the most mildly uncomfortable situations occurring in front of him.

I don't believe Ron and Anthony was ever seriously considered. There were talks, sure. Keith the Cop tweeting out the logo for a show that didn't exist while it was still in the planning stage was an embarrassing hail mary and an incredibly stupid business decision. It probably wasn't going to go anywhere, but that stunt likely confirmed all of Ron's suspicions.

Anthony looks stunned here, unable to know what to do.

Look at the relief on his face when he starts taking calls. Ant has forgotten all of the acrimony on O&A and has no one who can jump in for him anymore when things get difficult. If you didn't know who he was you might assume that he was a complete novice. Every hyper-political podcast eventually whittles its regulars and one-off guests down to yes men who they alwaysagreewith (like on TDS), and having your guest management skills atrophy like this is a consequence.

Cumia was on MLC today and diplomatically put all the blame for Compound’s failure on Keith the Cop. He also admitted that after Geno drove Aaron Berg off In Hot Water, he (Cumia) doubled Geno’s pay by giving him Aaron’s share too. What an absolute retard. Keep drinking and bitching about black people, Ant.

Norton had the first episode of his new "Advice Show" yesterday and pretty much confirmed he's done with Sirius.

Looks like we're getting Roberts and Tefft In The AM w/ Crazy Uncle Quan feat. Mike the Marine.

Can't wait to hear the same 10 references to stuff from the 90s in between C-Tier 3 year comics trying to pander to Sam to bring them back on again.

I'm honestly surprised he lasted as long as he did. He was an excellent third mic, but how they allowed him to "co-host" a show contributing fuck-all to anything for so long baffles me.

But I like Mike Montone a lot and may make a point to listen to the new Sam Roberts garbage if he's a main part of it.

It was like some weird inversion of Ron & Fez. Jim was Ron where he had talent and his name was on the show, but he did fucking nothing. Meanwhile, Sam had zero talent but would constantly talk about completely uninteresting shit. The show was only funny when they included other Sirius characters (Dennis Falcone) or bullied their producers.

I try my best to like the guys especially from the old O&A show but bleh, this is literally just the O&A Aftershow but only they replaced Erock with someone way less funny.

My dream show, if I had the power to will it, would be a combo of Scorch, Denny, and Bobo. Do that and Howard Stern would be run out of Sirius

scorch would completely take over the show cause he's an absolute control freak, denny would just sit there and take it like a bitch, and bobo would do anything just to be there. where do i sign up?

Give me the "classic" Opie, Anthony and Jimmy, but the Comedy Cellar guys are near daily guests (the specifics of which ones and when I don't care), and Opester has zero power over them or control over the show. Greggshells a'plenty.

It is weird to think that the final iteration of ONA is now officially done on Sirius. I never watched Jim and Sam, but it just feels weird that there really is no longer any genuine connection to the old show. ONA and whatever impact they had really is finally over.

Speaking of Anthony, he spent the morning shitting on the Bourbon Street terrorist attack victims for going outside their homes in the first place.

He of course didn't notice the irony that the advice he is giving people here is the advice that he refused to follow ten years ago that ultimately led to his firing from Sirius.

Scorch doing hack bits (ex. Wheel of Meat) with Denny playing exaggerated sound effects in the background and hyping it up, all with Bobo fumbling through the bit over Scorch's distinctive deep laughter

One of my biggest personal mysteries is why Sirius XM fucked over Denny so hard. He was funnier than 99% of their on-air talent and his appearances in the last year of Opie & Anthony were the best. How did he never get his own talk show? Why did Sirius shitcan him? Dennis was funny when it was a shoot, he was funny when it was a work, and he knew how to have fun at holiday parties.
