It reminds me so much of Tommy Tooter's unhinged, contradictory, recurring themes, posting when he's spiralling (as he's doing at the moment) that I'm inclined to believe it's real.

I don't doubt for a moment that April has BPD, but if she also has some kind of psychotic mental health disorder going on then all of this will make perfect sense to her. Aaron and Nick both seem to be too tolerant of her in light of her behaviour and pity because she has a serious mental health disorder might explain why.

There are a ton of great tasting comfort foods that don't look particularly appetising but most of us aren't putting them on display when we make them and we already know they taste good. By contrast, Nick is trying to convince us that his food tastes good in spite of the fact that it looks like shit and we saw exactly what went into it.

I think these streams are partly about having evidence for CPS that the kids are being taken care of and that family is providing support. Far too much of the kids lives is being exposed to public view for it to be anything else.

Nah, it's just a) the narc ability to sniff out, and understandable attraction to, people with a streak of codependency, and/or b) the only way Nick can maintain the facade of being the smartest guy in the dungeon room is to surround himself with dim, compromised people (women, in this case). The better to manipulate you, my dear.

April's brand of manipulation is to present herself as the perfect adoring, available, game, abiding, worshipful dream girl. The flaws in her mindset/plan are that she doesn't realize she's being manipulated and also underestimates the need Nick has to show he has a family/children and is actually "winning," and no longer having that set of props to point to would undermine that. Her gambit is "what I can do for you" but she doesn't realize that as much as she might flatter his ego, it doesn't override his need for status.
