I don't think so. I think he realized years ago that it's much easier getting attention, upvotes, and superchats when he positions himself as a martyr for autistic people and teenagers than it is when he attempts to affect change in a political system which has resoundingly rejected him. I think he was earnest about wanting to pursue serious politics until the fallout of J6 and even moreso after the shitshow of AFPAC 3, but now he just wants to be a lightning rod for the revolving demographic of 16-24 year old spergs who almost always inevitably grow out of it.
I believe Nick Fuentes started off as a completely genuine right-wing commentator, not a fed, then after Jan 6 and his "ignore the barriers we're taking the capitol" remarks was approached by the federal government and given an ultimatum where he has to inform on and rat out his own followers or go to prison.
This is my theory. Every single thing he says and does now seems deliberately designed to mislead young men and hurt the public perception of conservatives in the US. He does not say a single thing that's not retarded, and the remaining Groypers are more belligerent and insufferable than ever.

Fuentes started out more mature and presentable than he is now to the point he is the Benjamin Button of online political commentary. Whether it was the success of the groyper wars and the creation of AFPAC going to his head, getting kicked off twitter isolating him from broader outside scrutiny, or the Feds twisting his arm after Jan 6, in just under a year and a half he went from up-and-coming influencer who might have been able to work his way into a seat at the republican table to total pariah. The signs were always there - Nick was just as obsessed with McDonalds and nigger noise in 2019 as he was in 2021 - but they were kept under control and people were willing to cut him some slack on account of his youth and the fact he was trying to appeal to youth.
I wonder if they found porn of underage catboys on his phone and are using that as further leverage over him.

I believe this is absolutely a huge part of how he got to where he is. If you recall, he was banned from Twitter immediately prior to his event in Texas in July of 2021 where he publicly said that his event would be "the most racist, sexist, anti-Semitic event" in the city, or something along those lines. Prior to that, he would occasionally make edgy comments on his livestream, but never said anything remotely similar to that in public, let alone with his fans around him. I think his desire to stay on Twitter was so strong that he literally tard wrangled himself to stay within its TOS, and then he felt like there was no reason to not hone in on his edgiest and most antisocial takes after being banned (the TRS approach) because being the infamous edgelord is more interesting and profitable than being one of a thousand vaguely pro-White micro-influencers. To his credit, he did manage to stay relevant, but I don't think it's the type of relevance he was going for when he started this career path.
