Removing gendered armor is no big deal as long as you're not a crazy person who absolutely has to craft every piece of armor in the game haha no way anyone does that and is now crying about farming.

Glad I play on PC, can't wait for the "actually good-looking NPC" mods. I get that player models can come out looking wonky since it's custom, but why do the NPCs (who you have to look at the entire game) always looks so... bland? Wonky? It's not even just the female ones either.

I still enjoy the challenge level of MHWorld after several hundred hours in it, it's disheartening that they're doing all this hand-holding stuff. Especially the "big attack" alert or whatever. I feel like a significant point of the game is learning to watch for telegraphs, so if you get ass-blasted it's your own fault. Also, I get that it's convenient to be able to get food effects in the field, but I hope it can only be done at camps (so you have to establish a temporary one every time). It just takes away from the expedition/survival feeling if you can boost yourself whenever.

The timer looks gone, meaning it's no longer really relevant?

On the right side of the screen, at "Hunt alpha Doshaguma". I know it's travesty of modern gaming UI.
I agree with most of what you've said, but most heavy weapons now are have somewhat faster attack animation not just hunting horn. Gunlance, Chargeblade and SA.
Also, I said in previous page, hunting horn new "Earthshaker" move from Rise being longer is gonna be a detriment later on. The move where you use HH like a guitar. Wilds version is much longer than Rise. Since old horn is back, there is still recital into encore multiple songs.
But you can be still quite correct with the whole commitment, LS now can cancel helmbreaker mid air by sheathing.

On one hand, another old feature getting removed. On the other hand, I really never used coating and didn't really want to use it either (when I did use it I didn't find it helped in any way, at least more than once). If they were arrow types rather than coatings that you could switch to like the bowgun I'd be more interested. So this gauge system sounds promissing. I briefing looked for an example in the stream and yeah it doesn't seem to bad, and that tracer arrow thing is...not sure how I feel about it. Looks like a noob crutch
Here is a Capcom link as "manual guide" input for weapon. Bow is way at the bottom. They don't show bow having as in different coatings like bowguns with ammo type, which is I fear as in more casualization. Unironically bow is like one of top usage weapon and the highest usage in ranged weapons.
The aimbot bow type, Track shot, is a build up gauge just like HBG wyvern strike (minigun) or wyvern snipe. Both are now called Ingintion mode now.

The bonus from armor set, since monsters (Wyvern) are categorized into Fanged, Fanged Beast, Bird, Brute, Flying, etc... I think that was what devs meant by the whole new bonus from mix set if they are in same Wyvern category, along with full set bonus from one monster like World.

Edit: Day 2 stream is bad and useless.

loved monster hunter for a long time (started on the PSP). even enjoyed world + iceborne.

rise and sunbreak were too fast and loose for me. wilds is a no-buy. i can't take dudes wearing skirts or dresses hunting down savage deviljho seriously.

(we even have a kikette as a handler?)

>I don't really care about the armor restrictions being lifted for sexes. My concern lands on if the Devs will eventually phase out the two unique looking sets in order to save development time and money, where we end up with one androgynous set in future games. On top of that seeing all the gender weirdos on social media screech in celebration of this is always annoying.
Considering they removed Gunner and Blademaster armor I feel like that's worryingly likely

I'm not sure if I would worry about losing style in the Monster Hunter series. Part of what makes the game fun is the various looks you make which has evolved into its form of customization the developers have played into with the various additional content missions.

I think the class based armor restriction removal was nice because it allowed for more overall choice. Same thing with removing the Gender particularly with the helms having pretty striking differences. of course everyone wants to point out dudes in skirts but plenty of the female helms in World were pretty cool and showed the face vs the full helm.

The whole gender unlock stuff is not really that bad. 90% of the people buying Monster Hunter are normie white/Asian dude bros, and if NexusMods says anything about MoHun players it's still going to be more of the same. The <10% of gender weirdos are just a loud minority on social media.
I usually play a male character and I never really liked I couldn't see his face unless I used a layered piece or something that didn't fit in my set in older games.

Behold, the unparalleled power of the PS5.
While I definitely agree with the sentiment, and the demos were being run on ps5, given the retarded levels of denuvo crapcom has been putting in everything, the clearly unoptimized look of the game, and issues with the engine itself, you're gonna need a pretty beefy pc rig to brute force it.

Wow the combat animations look like dogshit, and what do you know, they tripled down on making it so when you hit a monster it bleeds drywall dust with Borderlands damage numbers. How wholesome chungus! Also, the insistence on making things like Blade Fury Dance cancellable are retarded, why remove the innate risk/reward the combat had built in FROM DAY ONE. I hate World niggers fr fr

Is there even a set demo release time yet? Cause so far seeing couch fats play it isn't really selling me.
Monhun demos usually come out a couple months before the game does. They were faggy and called world's an "open beta" because it was made for the exact kind of retards who think that sounds more exclusive than "demo", so they'll probably do that again.

I’m not a fan of the non-gendered armor choice.

1. That usually means ugly choices for the female characters that tilt towards more boring and shapeless outfits/armor.

Or

2. Pictures of cool, feminine armor on ugly barrel chested male characters flooding the community.

Bonus: weirdos being validated means taking over the community memes, art, and discussion which limits fun in fandom.

I also think it’s probably more of a lazy, do-less-get-more choice than political though. Capcom will claim otherwise to try and get good company points though.

Other than that, I’m ok with this game. It’s probably not a day 1 purchase for me, but it’s still on my list.

Good news: You can go underwater.
Bad news: They aren't bringing underwater combat back.

One of the things that pissed me of the most was in one of the first videos was this clip showcasing focus mode.

If you played a bit of Great Sword you can tell something is wrong here, he did a whole 180 while charging, this is throwing positioning out of the window entirely, the one thing that balanced the huge damage the great sword can do because you have to commit to charging and knowing when to do it so you dont miss.

Why? Not only does the sekreit thing move to the monster like the mounts in world, but Scoutflies are still a thing, is this some kind of nostalgiabait?
No underwater combat so whats the fucking point of implementing swimming at all?
The UI also seems to be a problem everyone agrees with, I hope they polish it more by the time it releases.
Also the whole focus targeting spots just seem to be inspired by the afflicted monsters in subreak.
Mantles are back it seems, I hope they dont add back rocksteady and temporal, maybe evasion mantle too but no one used that one.

Im glad they added back more than 1 palico and hunter NPCs like Rise did it
Im mixed with the armour thing, I think its good to have more options but I hope it doenst dumb down on the designs, Ill have to wait and see.
This really feels like a sequel focused on World with how similar everything is.

Just more of a personal thing but Im a bit sad they kept the grappling hook but didnt bring back Lance's Counter Claw, maybe in the expansion I hope.

Bow "adept dodge", restoring stamina and also refilling coating gauge.

One perfect dodge will refill one gauge, one gauge should give like 8 Power coatings. It also looks like one track arrow for each gauge too. Technically, the dodge will be quite powerful allowing bow has more dps up time, but more reliant on AI behaviour and player skill.
Playing well (dodging properly) means more power coatings, more damage overall rather than using close-range coating. Then again, that also depends on how devs balance around gem-deco skill for bow.

Bowgun, few lower level ammo types are now infinite, not just normal LV1 anymore. In screenshot, Normal Lv2, spread Lv1 and pierce Lv1. A bit less cumbersome inventory for gunners.

Hunting horn, one more QoL. In World, when playing a song list, it always goes from top to bottom order. Now, there is additional inputs for player to choose what song goes first, then it goes back to top-bottom.

Some of the changes are nice, some others are questionable, like "change for the sake of change". There are some complaints for IG and Chargeblade. But at this point, I'll rather wait for demo if Capcom being generous with announcement in Tokyo game show (September) maybe. It's MonHun, no such thing as weapon balance, there are obvious favs from dev side. As long as weapon I like is fun and not too lackluster, I'm good.

I don't know why people are so upset about the glaive not being able to bounce off its helicopter anymore. It was the glaives worst move. Inaccurate, did shit damage, didn't deal mounting damage until the last hit, and got clipped by jank vertical hitboxes all the fucking time. Glaive has one of the most versatile grounded kits while also competing with dual blades for the most mobile weapons in the game, and now redditors are upset that they can't centralize this swiss army knife of a weapon around one dogshit move like they do with every other weapon in every other game.
