I didn't have any problems with Mallow's trial, but I was a little overleveled. My Ribombee kicked its ass in two turns. Plus in the volcano park area you have access to Fletchlings that are one level away from becoming Fletchinders, which have dual resistance to Lurantis' Grass attacks and resist Sunny Castform's Weather Ball.

Lana's trial, though... That Wishiwashi and Alomomola can go fuck themselves.
you know what my team was against Lurantis
No fire types. No fire moves. Two flying types. A water type. An electric/steel type. A psychic type. A fighting type. It was hell.

Wishiwashi was cinch in comparison.

If you have trouble with a Pokemon game you should probably rethink your life.

So change your team up. You need coverage mang!

If anyone's having problems sweeping the Battle Tree without a competitive team, I actually had a pretty nice idea...

Nihilego has a Timid nature and knows the following moves; Sludge Wave, Power Gem, Dazzling Gleam, and Acid Spray.
Next is Xurkitree, who's also Timid and has an amazing moveset for what I need; Hypnosis, Discharge, Tail Glow, and Power Whip. Attach a Bugnium Z to enhance his Tail Glow and watch the enemy team get their shit rekt.
The final member is my Adamant Buzzwole, who has good synergy with the rest of the team. I taught him how to use Earthquake, Hammer Arm (gonna give him Focus Punch after EV training), Leech Life, and Substitute.

All of them become stronger after an enemy is KO'd thanks to Beast Bond, and I'm about to start my sixth battle. Seems to be working flawlessly so far.

I'm on the 7th trial now, and I feel like a Mallow's Trial Support Group is in order.

I'll start.
Hi, my name is Skipjack, I'm 18 years old, and I've been fucked in the ass by Mallow's trial.

My name is Ginger Dixie, I'm 22 years old and I had a Fire type.

A Fire type didn't help me.

I'm glad that for the first time in what feels like forever, a Pokemon game isn't a cakewalk and has a modicum of challenge.

Marrow's trial didn't give me any trouble. One fire-type(Torracat), one poison-type ( Haunter or Gengar, I can't recall) and one flying-type (Drifblim) made short work of it.

In other news, my Ghost-type team is coming along nicely now that I finally managed to turn the Litwick I got at lvl. 1 through the GTS into a Chandelure.
So far the line-up is Drifblim, Decidueye, Mimikyu, Chandelure, Lunala and of course Gengar.

I'll switch out Lunala when I get a better ghost 'mon though, because its typing sucks.

Pheromosa(Naive with U-Turn/High Jump Kick/Ice Beam/Poison Jab) and the Tapus(Too lazy to type out sets) are also good options overall. Tapu Lele and Fini in partucular shut down Priority and Status, respectively, with their terrains so one of them is always useful.

Is there an equivalent to the friend code gardens from xy for getting pokes with good IV's and hidden abilities? that shit was dope.

Hidden abilties are primarily obtained Pokemon called via SOS in SuMo. As a result the only new Pokemon with Hidden Abilities that aren't available are the starters(not found in the wild), Oranguru/Passimian(Cannot be called via SOS even by others of their kind), and the Tapus(like all previous legends with hidden abilities, they will probably be events of some kind)

The only battles I have lost in this game have been those stupid free for all battles in the wrestling ring, which have a huge fucking luck component. What the hell are you all doing?

Apparently, it came yesterday, although Amazon didn't send me an email for some reason, so I couldn't get to it until this morning. Unfortunately, I'm on the way to work, but I've at least gotten about half an hour in. I picked Rowlet. My productivity is going to be shit today.

Kiwis have been more or less mass breeding the starters, so let us know if you would like some.

I'm only like an hour into the game, but honestly, that Pokemon Trainer School has a pretty nasty magnemite, considering how early in the game it is. If you picked Rowlett, like I did, you gotta have a pretty good backup strat.

Gotta say, it's pretty slow so far, but I do like it an awful lot. There's a lot of variety in the wild pokemon, I just got to the first main town and I already have some pretty good type coverage.

Hey, I lost twice. That's it. Just twice. Only losses in the game so far.

And I'm already on upping my coverage.
How did you manage that? I don't think I've evr lost a battle in the maingame in all the years I've been playing Pokémon.

Lumantis is a plain old grass-tupe too, no dual typing or anything, so plenty of weaknesses. If Fire doesn't do it, just get a bug or poison type, there are plenty of those in the early stages of the game. Just get a Gastly or Cutiefly and evolve them.

By the way, does anybody know when you get your Pokédex upgraded to National?

I ended up getting some pokes like Chandelure that aren't registered yet.

There is no National dex, even in the coding. Same with dex entries for the 500 Pokemon not in the Alola dex. It will be available via the Gen VII Pokemon Bank update. As a result you only need to catch 300/802(There are 302 Alola dex Pokemon but 2 are event only and don't count towards completion) Pokemon to get the Shiny Charm from the game freak headquarters guy.

EDIT: Just a minor note that even though there is no National dex in the coding the national dex numbers for the new Pokemon are there.

wow that's pretty damn stupid

Whoever is breeding Popplio and Litten, may I have one of each? I would be willing to catch and trade something for it, just drop me a line of what you want. I have Sun so I'll be able to get Sun exclusives for them.
