What is this shit and why is everyone so obsessed with it? Is it the new Genshin or Honkai or whatever?
Hot Take: I don't want to see any more older characters from Fatal Fury in the next Garou because Garou was supposed to move on from Fatal Fury, and be the next generation with Rock and friends. Billy is a red flag (and I like Billy), and as much as I love Mai's tits, I'd rather see a new character, maybe one that rivals Mai (Jenet doesn't really work).
It's the SFIII of Fatal Fury. Evidently, they are essentially following Capcom's example by dripping in a few more OGs in there to make sure the fans aren't completely alienated like with Third Strike.

But idk, unlike Street Fighter, Garou separates itself not just in the roster but in name and brand from Fatal Fury so I don't get the worry.

On the other hand, I do like to see what happened with some of the OGs after Geese's death from a narrative perspective. Not everyone, just a few, considering some were already accounted for in MoTW like Kim and Andy and Mai.

In CoTW, we got Joe with his new apprentice. Whom I don't care much for ngl.

Also now I am curious. What is it about Jenet that fails? No reason for asking, just found the admission pretty amusing.
Thank you, I'm stealing that. Since Gouki Akumer no longer looks like Mufasa, Akuma Matata doesn't work anymore.
I thought about this. How much is a contemporary esport fighting game costing us. You have the base game, $70. Then the bullshit season's pass, another $25 to $30. Then the characters or stages purposedly not included in that pass. More $$. If you made the mistake of buying the PSN or xbox version, an extra $50 yearly to play online. It really wasn't worse during the 90s and early 2000s era.
I concur.

They also didn't charge you for hair colors that'd fade over time so you'd have to buy more or implement premium currency that is specifically designed to be drip-fed in earnings via playing the game, tempting players to just buy it with real money.

Also, I got my hands on KOF XIII and 2002 Unlimited Match, the last dream match game. Say what you will about the Ash Saga but the games were solid as shit. Except for XII

And Unlimited is just one big fun fan service wank where you can abuse Genocide Cutter all day every day or soothe the pain of fighting broken-ass Igniz in 2001 by spamming his most OP moves.

On a similar note, it kinda makes me wonder if we will ever get another Dream Match from SNK again. I doubt it but dreams are forever.

Pretty much

i tried it for a few days, it's not a typical RPG, it's more like an action beat-em-up. The combo-tag system is pretty neat, and story is ok, but IMO it really should be a full game for consoles that has all the bells and whistles instead of a gacha mobile game. You just know once the servers shut down, everything is fucked, so what's the point of even investing time into it.

The only fighting game I really ever sunk my teeth into was USF4 with about 200 hours played online. I enjoyed it even though I sucked. Is Street Fighter 6 a good experience online? I had issues with shitty latency on Street Fighter 5. Every match was like in slow motion and rubber bandy as fuck. Not sure if it's my internet or they just suck ass at writing netcode (could be both)
SF6 has the best online netcode and consistency of any fighting game I've played. Capcom is now run by the new kids, so they aren't extremely stubborn like the old FG devs (Harada and Ono) who rejected new Rollback/GGPO netcode technology. This means they are implementing state of the art tech to make online matches as smooth as possible, and they are really consistent and fun.

After playing a lot of Street Fighter 6, I tried Tekken 8 and dropped it after a week because it was so similar to T7, and the netcode tech was outdated on launch. Tons of lag, and 1/5 matches were unplayable. Harada, the Tekken diretor is seen as a "based" icon by the newfans who still say "good ass tekken" , but bro has been holding back Tekken's potential for a while now. In fact a big reason fighting games lacked QoL features for the last decade were because of the stubborn old guard who ran the studios.

Also, I stole Akumer from Aris AvoidingThePuddle, one of my favorite twitch streamers. Been wanting to make a thread about him but I'm brand new and I don't want to fuck up creating a thread.

Since Garous was one of the more successful "New Gen" fighters, I thought fans were okay with Terry being the only vet in the game (It had more of a story than SF3 where most of the cast wasn't fleshed out)? Jenet is okay, but besides her animations, she's just one of many generic Falcoon characters you'll forget about unless she's in another game (She's fun to use, but not really memorable).

Call me an old fart, I miss the days when a super arts would take place within a brief flash in the round. I will forever hold SF4 accountable for this "short movie interruption" nonsense we have to put up with.
Feels like a moment for the loser at 5% hp to think through shit to do to counter, rather than get overwhelmed by the sheer force and eat a last dooming hit.

Though, AKI's magnum opus shit is kino as hell. I'm fine with them taking up ages if they're cinematic and fitting. Random ass hitting around is just meh

Ewww that face!

Also, would you look at that...No Hokutomaru but we got Mai.

Hmm. I mean I dig the Mai Mai Kyun remix if anything. Also I am aware that Mai's classic outfit is popular and iconic and preferred by most, etc.etc. but I will admit I really do like the new outfit on a visual level.

Sure, it looks like she just got off the set of Ninja Gaiden 3 but I do think it's cool. That said, without the flowing parts and the kimono flaps, obi, etc. her silhouette, as in the art of character design, is now rather uninteresting.

It doesn't quite feel like Mai anymore. At least Wild Wolf has been so continually shoved into our faces over the years that it's still Terry to most and to an extent, does feel like him even without the iconic outfit.

Edit: In regards to SF6 Terry, I don't like how hyperrealistic he is. They added a bunch of birthmarks and moles and I don't expect him to look like an anime character like what KOF has done but SF6's direction with him looks kinda gross and uncanny, especially since his hair reminds me of yarn threads.

Terry in SF6 looks freakishly plastic. Guilty Gear Strive became too tranny for me, DBZ eternal combos and super dash filteted me out and KoFXV being a more demanding fighting game than I'm used too, so learning 3 character ended also filtering me. The League of Legends game seems like a "lose neutral, make a coffee while you get ToD" so very much pass for now.

Garou is the one I'm intetested in though. Just having to focus on a single character instead of 3 hope means I stick with it.
