Just two months ago I was complaining about my coworker being transphobic. Now it's escalated.

My company built two new all-gender bathrooms and opened them yesterday. This morning I got this email from the director of safety, facilities and maintenance.

I’m sure it’s the vast minority, but yesterday my friend randomly brought up how her aunt could tell I was trans. Her aunt even went around telling/ asking people if they thought I was trans at a party we were all at. Apparently she even told my friends’ cousin and uncle that “that’s a man” (referring to me). Her other relatives disagreed with her aunt and had the decency to tell her to leave me alone. I think my friend confirmed this suspicion and she excitedly replied “I KNEW IT”! I found out yesterday that the same “friend” had gone around bragging to my other friend about how she also knew I was trans even before I told her. She honestly seemed happy to tell me that I’d been clocked and it’s giving me some seriously weird vibes. Also, not to be shady, but I can’t even justify being a grown ass 50 year old woman going around and being proud of clocking a GUEST at the party (especially when every other guest she talked to disagreed and tried to shut it down). That was some truly déclassé behavior.

That's exactly it I think.
It's been discussed a few times on this thread and others, there is a sub set of Troons that are extremely autistic and don't understand the very real innate differences between men and women, and so put them down to purely cosmetic differences, so when they try to "transition" they go off these differences that their autistic brains have noted, long hair =woman, tits = woman, makeup = woman etc, and think if they tick these boxes then people must see them as women.
Then of course when people don't believe the 6'3" rapehon gorrillabride with bad makeup and a Party City wig is a True and Honest female, they freak out, because that's breaking the rules, they put on the dress, they grew the HRT moobs, they are women etc.

I don't know if I've told this story before, but there was a tranny that used to frequent our local Games Workshop (before he was banned for being a nonce) who once proclaimed, with a strange sort of pride in his voice, that he had prostituted himself.

I, of course, didn't think that this was the time or the place to be making that admission and very much did NOT want him to elaborate, so I just said, "That's sad," with as much fake sympathy as I could muster, and went back to painting my Chaos warriors. He seemed rather upset by my reaction, and was like, "No, no, actually, it was really nice, I made lots of money and he was a really good kisser."

I didn't respond and thankfully, nobody else engaged him further either and the whole conversation sort of withered on the vine (as, presumably, did his penis, when he realised no one wanted to hear him bloviate about his obvious hooker fetish).

Boyfriend started T and is overly mean now

My boyfriend of 2 years started on T months ago and we're already seeing crazy changes, but one of the biggest things is he gets mad at me like every other hour and sometime more and it's driving me crazy. He ends up saying hurtful things and calling me names and then within 10 minutes pretends like it never happened. Has anyone else experienced this? Lots of anger, or a partner with lots of anger? How did you get through it?


edit: When I said he pretends like it didn't happen after, I meant he acts like it didn't happen. He doesn't lie and say that he didn't do anything, he just doesn't bring it up so I usually don't bring it up or else he gets mad again. I should have worded that differently

I've been doing good for the most part recently, I seldom correct the customers at work because its usually a very brief interaction. However yesterday upon approaching a client yesterday they said hello sir! Like really loud... my mind and body literally couldn't so I said politely "its mam" and then this person chuckled and said "whatever". I then looked directly into their eyes and said " this isn't a whatever thing" and they just turned away.... I'm still kinda pissed and sad...

Let me start by saying I am 54 years old next week (but reasonably young looking for the age?) and been on hormones a little over sixteen months. No surgeries except an orchiectomy earlier this year, but I've had seven laser sessions and about 24 hours of electrolysis on my face so far.

Anyway, due to my age I've been used to people misgendering me, even though it kills my soul a little every time I get called "sir." I had come to (somewhat) accept people won't see me as a woman and the times people gender me correctly is out of politeness.

However, a couple of weeks ago my wife was in the hospital and while I was there I noticed the whole time I was there I never got misgendered, not even by other visitors. The first day I was there was a higher-effort day, the next was lower and the third was actually boymoding, but I was still called "ma'am" or "miss" all day. Well, that be as it is, I still chalked it up to politeness on everyone's part.

This week I am doing errands and such to get out of the house (my wife is on hospice at home, and it's hard for me to watch). I have more or less been getting gendered correctly by people wherever I go, and today I did nothing to girl up. I woke up, I haven't showered since three days before and also haven't shaved since then. My hair is ratty af. I am wearing sneakers, jeans and a sort of baggy tee from the Snoop Dogg/Wiz Khalifa tour last year. Total boymode.

This afternoon I had to go to do a stop at the warehouse club to pick up some stuff and pick up food for everyone here at the house and I am still getting gendered female. Night before last I went to dinner with a work friend who hasn't seen me for 3.5 months and she claims that when I smile and laugh I am almost unrecognizable as the person she's known for decades and said she didn't recognize me walking in. The leader of my trans support group asked me why I won't use a women's room.

I would still chalk it all up to politeness, but I've been looking at old pictures of me and my wife, and saw myself a lot over the years in the last day. When I got dressed this morning and looked up after brushing my teeth I stared at my reflection for a minute and was like... um, okay, I am different... but. Always but.

My question is... how do we know if people are gendering us correctly out of politeness? Is it the nails, hair and ear piercings, or is it our overall affect and manner? How do we know? Does it even matter?

Coming out to my family was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and it didn’t mean anything

I wasn’t sure what kind of flair to use. I want to vent, but I’m not a venty trigger-warning kind of person.


I’ve posted here a few times about writing the letter and then sending it, and I do want to thank you all for the help and positive vibes. You really did help a lot.


I wrote a decent “hey, I’m trans, this is really hard for me but I wanted to share this with you. There will be changes to come” email months ago. I sat on it forever as I kept second-guessing myself. My family is not religious or conservative or whatever, but they are the flavor of centrist liberal that gives “ally” a bad name. They’ve also complained about pronouns and gender fluidity, tho they’ve only ever encountered it through their kids friends. They all see it as trendy dumb teenager bullshit. No one in my family has had anyone queer anywhere in their lives. Well, except for me, now. So I really had no idea x how this would go. Would they think I’d lost my mind and try to stage an intervention? Would they surprise me and welcome me with open arms? I couldn’t guess.


I fired off the letter Saturday morning. I didn’t hear from anyone until Sunday night, and I heard from the rest Monday night. To a person, they all gave me the same response: it’s your life, do what you want. We’ll accept you. End of message.
I followed up with a few phone calls, but they stayed on message. No questions or curiosity, and they absolutely didn’t want to hear any details. My dad just kept telling me to take it as slow as possible, that I shouldn’t be in a hurry (??). I was kind of like, bitch, I’ve been trying to transition since 2019 and I’ve made zero progress, I am absolutely in a hurry.


It’s now been about a week, and we’ve had no further conversations. It’s like it never happened. I don’t feel any relief or energy or confidence for the future, I just feel kind of how I felt before all this, but more tired. And dreading doing all this again with my friends, and then work. Just, ugh, I think I’d prefer if they all disowned me and I could just start fresh
