Why do people cheat on their spouses/lovers? - Are there any justified types of cheating in your eyes?

What leads to it? Is there any justified cheating?
 
Something something lack of an inner monologue. You'd be surprised at the amount of people who don't have a little voice in their head telling them "Hey, could this perhaps be wrong? Let's stop."
 
Issues with the relationship, your behaviour changes thinking now you've got a ring on it that they're trapped with you for the rest of their life.
 
Reasons are pretty obvious so I'll rather comment on the justification part of it.

I don't think there is any, under common sense standards and morality. The point is that you are betraying someone's trust (who you decided to engage with, in a relationship of trust), instead of communicating & talking it out, or even terminating it if you truly think you cannot be with this person anymore, but always with honesty at the front.

If you're (about to be) the cheater, don't be a moron and end the relationship already; if you are the one cheated, terminate the relationship without regret, they're not worth it.
 
Aside from the obvious terminal coomers, there's a shocking amount of couples that put no effort into maintaining the relationship. Once they're 'in' they avoid hard conversations out of fear that it'll topple the whole thing, real issues are just left to fester. Eventually love is replaced with resentment, at which point just about anyone can appear as a god to the prospective cheater by offering basic comfort and swoop them off their feet. This is not justified, if your relationship is dead and you don't want to put in the effort to revive it, bury it and walk away.
 
Some people have a narcissistic compulsion to do it. Rarely has much do to with the current relationship for some, cheating is itself the point for a lot of cheaters and you can't do that without a relationship. On the other hand I think there are some people who want to stay in a relationship for convenience sake (waiting for next thing to come along, the other person takes care of house, pays bills, etc.) but they're not there emotionally (anymore if ever) and they're disinterested in the sex life.

If this were a hundred or so years ago the convo would be different and to an extent it depends on culture. If you have an arranged marriage you can't get out of suddenly cheating makes a lot more sense in certain regards. But most cheaters have no excuse. They do it for the novelty of it and the kick they get out of keeping a main partner around while still getting side chicks (or dicks).
 
As I understand it, men cheat because they're bored and want the feeling of another woman. It's nothing more than tasting another pie, and he's happy to go back to his home and stay married as long as he gets a piece of something else every once in awhile. For women, it's profound dissatisfaction with their relationships and seeking something satisfactory. Not necessarily sexually satisfying, but genuinely fulfilling. Women want to be perennially mesmerized, and when the husbands fail or, worse yet, potentially jeopardize the shared sense of security, they cheat because they neither like being bored nor are comfortable with weak horses.
 
well it could be variety of reasons, maybe the fire just isnt there any more and the only way to keep sparking it is with another's flame. Maybe one of the spouses just felt like they didnt get enough out of life (sometimes refered to as a mid-life crisis) and want to try to regain some of that missed opportunity. Maybe there was a tragedy and the person can't find comfort with those involved and has to look to sources outside of their marriage.

or maybe the bitch got fat. it's anyone's guess.

Selfishness and a lack of loyalty, respect, and love. No, there's never a justification, at least divorce if you want to cheat.

Adultery is just behind murder and rape as the greatest evils, it might actually be worse than some forms of rape.

In my eyes, pedophilia, zoophilia, rape, mass murder, and genocide should all be capitol offenses.

Normalish people, maybe. Some, as noted above, do it just to do it, to feed their egos, because they have no ability to be faithful interest in or concept of being faithful.

If you want to discourage bad behavior of this level, there must be a common punishment for it, its all deplorable, excuse my power leveling.
 
It's a tough call, people who commit to each other can sometimes change abruptly or hide their true selves until they've got someone locked in.
