Decidueye may be inspired by Santa Muerte, a Mexican deity thought to watch over those who are are vulnerable to violence and death - police officers, prostitutes, LGBT individuals ect - and is often portrayed as a skeleton in female clothing accompanied by an owl. Hence the ghost typing.

That's possible. I think it's based on the stilt owl, though, which was native to Hawaii and is now extinct.

Owls have been associated with death in many places around the world. Depending on the culture owls could be spirits of the dead, guides who carried the souls of the deceased to the underworld, messengers of the god(s) of the dead, or evil omens signaling impending death. In Hawaii, the owl was one of the various animal forms an ancestor's spirit could take on to protect and guide their family after death.

There's also the stilt owl thing mentioned earlier, and part of its name comes from "deciduous." The leaves of deciduous trees die and fall off during the fall season and the trees themselves look dead throughout the winter season.

I never plan out my team in advance, I'd rather go with the flow, with what I discover, and what I feel like raising.

That being said, I definitely do want Decidueye (final evo of favorite starter did not disappoint, especially with the Type), Vulpix (because I love Alolan Vulpix to death), and Sandalit (why does this guy get hate? I think he and his typing is cool).

The following three will be whatever.

Salandit is getting hate? Color me surprised, I personally haven't seen any.

I want to say I'd kinda go with the flow of things but I tend to latch onto certain Poke'mon pretty easily and therefore want to keep them on the team. Decidueye, Midnight-Form Lycanroc, Kommo-o, and Salandit are four that I'm currently feeling I'll be like that with. But I do keep bouncing around with what I'd want for the final two members of the team; with Decidueye being part Ghost, I'm now hesitant to use Mimikyu because I'm a sperg who doesn't like repeat types on my team, even when their primary typings are different.

I'll likely have to wait and see what types all these leaked Poke'mon are before I really settle on a team. Cosmog is likely to be on, though, but mostly because in the Japanese trailer they show it off as being important since it's the Poke'mon Lillie keeps in her bag, and I'm curious to see how it works into the storyline of the game.

Who knows though I'm an indecisive fuck when it comes to picking a solid working team. On the plus side only 17 more days until I get to play the fuck outta the game.

Personally, Russian Golem, Luchacat, Drampa, and that sandcastle are what my team will be until more pokes are discovered. Something about Golem having a beard and that cat just intrigue me. The blue Shenron wannabe is so cute, and sandcastles are sandcastles. Sandcastles are fun.

However, if the option's available (Aside from Pokebank) I will always go for Braviary.

I've found that I make my best in-game teams when I partially plan them (i.e. pick 2-3, then fill everything else out as I play). I'm 99% sure that I'm going to use Decidueye and Slowbro; I was torn between Rowlet and Litten, but the former has grown on me a lot more over the past week or so, and Slowbro is one of my favorites, it appears to be available reasonably early on, and I've never used it on my in-game team before.

Not happening, the Dataminers found the National Dex and all Pokemon are accounted for. We get 81 Pokemon this gen, 71 normal Pokemon, 8 Ultra Beasts, and 2 Event Pokemon. The "missing models" are all the Totem Pokemon that are larger than normal specimens of their kind. On top of that we have 18 Alola regional variant Pokemon. Ash Greninja, even in it's base form, counts as a seperate form to Greninja(Rather than adding Battle Bond as a third ability option, instead it is coded as an alternate form that can only have Battle Bond, meaning it will probably be unbreedable like Spiky-Earred Pichu/Cosplay Pikachu/Eternal Flower Floette)

For some reason I always seem to keep around a couple really early game mon in my teams, I've always done this for some reason. My latest one was a double deal with both Beedrill and Raticate in the Virtual Console Blue Version. The Former has the only usable Bug Type move in Gen I, Twineedle, and the latter Is the best Pokemon for catching things since it has Super Fang(False Swipe didn't exist yet)

Can't believe Komala didn't get an evolution. I guess, though, there wasn't much it could have evolved into.

As more leaks come out I'll update the list I posted earlier.

On another, unrelated note, Accidental TCG spoilers prove that Cosmog's Evolution evolves into both of the version mascots.

Some guy leaked gameplay on /vp/. Rowlet and Dartrix are slow jacks of all trades.
Same guy that leaked the game also leaked Pikipek's first evolution.
