He was always this. The personality flaws became more extreme as time went on. He got too comfortable with the success like many Youtubers.
He started using the show as his therapy session. The substance abuse creeped in making flaws worse. The audience saw this as "authentic" and "real". Instead, it was sad and boring to hear a man whine about his life.
