So a rat dose of 30mg/kg divided by 6.2 (surface area conversion factor, rat --> human) = 4.84 mg/kg HED MSG (human equiv. dose).

Then 4.84mg/kg HED MSG * 70kg avg human mass = 339 mg/day human dose MSG. Not 2000 mg/day ("2g/day") as the paper's abstract claims. So that's off by almost a full order of magnitude.

Just quickly glancing through the paper there's another major error... On the very first page after the abstract , they incorrectly refer to a rat MSG dose of 1.6 mg/g (an extremely high dose) as "low" , clearly confusing units of mg/g (parts per thousand) with mg/kg (parts per million) - here they are 1000-fold off.



That would be like calling a human equiv. dose of 18g/day MSG "low" ... Clearly nonsensical.
