A mix of being drunk / high and permanently retarded probably.
If he was off it and going through withdraws he'd realize how much he had fucked up and be getting help.

I think Nick's at least smart enough to lay off the coke for now. I've no idea how long he allegedly has been using, but can only imagine understanding the gravity of getting mixed up with that during an investigation is not lost upon him and the kick's not nearly as wicked as quitting drinking, which I highly doubt he's done.

I would have thought the same a few years ago... but I also thought he would have been smart enough to not say possibly incriminating (or at least not helpful, certainly) things on the internet after being arrested and facing felony charges. So I'm not sure of anything anymore.
