Oh whoa, I'd never heard about this before today. It was always framed as "all sin can be forgiven!" Even as a non-Christian, that's one that I don't think I'd ever play around with in case someday I do convert. That's very heavy to take in.

Actually, the Catholic interpretation fits Nick perfectly. In scripture, it's called the "sin/blasphemy against the Holy Spirit." We consider this to be the sin of Final Impenitence. If you never approach God with true contrition in your heart for your sins, you cannot be forgiven. Didn't they (Barnes and Frei) mostly part ways with Nick after disagreements over Jack Murphy? I admit I haven't kept up closely with either but I don't remember them doing anything significant together since then.

I assume Barnes is just siding with Nick just on the gun issue and his strong commitment to the 2nd amendment to include child abusers.
