I hope Switch 2 does inbrace new tec more. Stuff like HDR (HDR+ or DV support would be even better), 120HZ/ variable refresh rate support and having a screen much like that Steam Deck that can handle 40fps.

Would say hope for a OLED or OD-OLED screen at launch, but Nintendo will just try to sell that later to get people to double dip.
I'd temper my expectations. It's because of years of silly rumors and leaks that you get people speculating about insane specs, when in the end, the issues boil down to the same thing: Apart from OLED, none of those are conducive to decent battery life and thermal profile.

Even back with the Switch, we knew it was a Tegra X1 device, but even the folks at DF weren't expecting Nintendo to downclock the crap out of it by that much, and it's even worse in handheld mode. Today, they get soyboys asking them if the Switch 2 will basically do everything the Deck does, and more, and still expect a 299$ price point. Probably in the exact same form factor too.

Gaming marketing got out of hand, which even Nvidia just went back and started peddling their hardware as... 1080p gaming capable again. Not 4K, certainly not the 8K that Sony slapped on their console's box (Which by the way, it took years for them to add native 2K support).

40fps in portable mode is a good way to save battery power, but rest of the stuff more so meant for docked play.

With HDR agree not worth it for portable play. really need a display like OLED with self illuminating pixels to do it at a smaller size , but no reason outside Nintendo being Nintendo it shouldn't be supported docked.

I wonder if the Switch 2 will essentially have a Tegra X1 die shrink and higher clocks, and maybe more RAM and DLSS?

It already had a die shrink with the OLED/Red Box model, but doing it again isn't exactly great. Sure, it'd be good for backwards compatibility, but it's really old at this point and going to a more recent SoC would be cheaper. Less of a headache for Nvidia, plus I think they want to move away from something with known vulnerabilities. Moot point to stick with it knowing it could easily get pirated again.

Sure, the X1 had known vulnerabilities, but surely Nintendo would do the sane thing and close up those holes in the design, right?... Oh. Well, sure makes sailing the high seas easier if you don't even bother with it until way after release.

Nintendo held out the longest of the Big 3, but sharing to Twitter is finally going away next month. Of course it had to happen right before their Direct.

The Steam Deck's lowest introductory price was only $399, and its two years old. Its not that far out of the realm of possibility.
Yeah, but that was the base 64gb model with the ass LCD, and it's a chunky thing.

Those guys are expecting limited edition OLED on par with a Legion Go (but twice the refresh rate) with at least 512gb, and more within the thin boy. But gotta keep that top of the class battery life, tho!

There has to be a compromise somewhere, these guys are usually the first to bend over and suck up whatever Nintendo gives them.
