Reading this thread, it really bums me out how much Crystal Dynamic seems to hate their own IP now. Lara Croft is a cultural icon in the gaming community and the company owes their continued existence to her but they seemed intent on shitting on her because the 90's action girl isn't woke enough for them.

Yet Crystal wasn't like this until they sold their souls to the devil with Squeenix and eventually Embracer. They were originally going to continue on with classic Lara by the time Angel of Darkness failed, and even hired OG creator/writer Toby Guard to write, starting with Legend and then both Anniversary and Underworld.

Then Squeenix bought Crystal and Eidos and not only rushed Underworld to the public, but also rebooted Lara again, but with a shitty woke twist, and Embracer is currently doing the exact same with what Squeenix did to Eidos/Crystal IPs just to collect BlackRock and Vanguard checks, which explains why nuCrystal despise Lara Croft and what made her a Tomb Raider in the first place.

By the time the Cold War had officially ended with the fall of the Berlin wall on December 26, 1991, we've thought other countries would've followed America's footsteps with leadership while still keeping history, but then shit like Oklahoma City, Columbine, 9/11, Katrina, late-2000s recession, etc. were among the many things that ended up making the earth get back to fearing. Bringing this back to Tomb Raider, the notion of complaining about Lara's colonialism is supremely absurd.
Lara is literally a grave robber who does it for sport and ends up having to save the world from some ancient evil along the way.
Portraying any kind of Tomb Raider as a goody-two-shoes is retarded, and the developers of Tomb Raider understood this. You cannot have a serious archaeologist concerned with the preservation of ancient sites start a firefight next to a significant monument.
Or have them activate an ancient mechanism just to find out if it works or destroys an invaluable artifact.
Or climb around on a crumbling ancient temple, collapsing its facade in the process.

If they were concerned about making a game that shows respect for historic artifacts, they would have to create an archaeology simulator, carefully brushing away layers of dirt and cataloging it slowly to avoid destruction and ensure the artifact's precise location.

But all this talk of colonialism and stealing cultural artifacts is merely an attempt to justify 'White people bad.'

So Lara will either have to be apologetic and relinquish control to the superior trans BIPOC, or she will be impotent and the trans BIPOC will take over because xe are superior.

Just some more info on this.

1: The pic featured in the tweet is from Xbox Series X, but it's pretty much confirmed that Steam version is censored too.

2: Calling it laziness on Embracer & CD's part or our luck on them missing it, but if you go to the level of the Expansion Pack, apparently not only were the poster erased in the Remastered Version but they are still featured in the Classic Mode



3: Mods are already on to the rescue, but they're on Nexus so no one knows when it'll get removed. I recommend downloading quick.

4: This is the most bipolar piece of censorship I've seen in a while. They're literally putting Leopard Skin Outfit in the game, which is way more provocative than random posters. Something in me believes it was censored out of spite.
