Well the interesting thing is that even something like gender nonconforming behavior isn't actually a definite predictor of something like homosexuality. There is a strong correlation between homosexuality and gender non-conforming behavior in childhood, but the majority of children who display gender nonconforming behavior do not display homosexual attraction, and similarly a large percentage of homosexuals do not display non-gender conforming behavior in childhood.


You can disagree with how society reacts to gender nonconforming behavior, or theorize on its origins, but it manifestly does exist. It is observable in populations that many children will display behavior patterns not in keeping with the majority of their sex. The argument that that implies that they should be surgically altered to the other sex is actually a kind of absurd prescriptivism that basically goes directly against the arguments that were being made 10-15 years ago when it came to stuff like gendered behavior. It's actually basically analogous to older talking points that sought to enforce behavioral gender conformity in kids, it operates on exactly the same logic.


It's one of the things that makes all this trans movement stuff so stupid is how ontologically confused at all this. The transgender argument is essentially become a tautological loop, because none of the observable evidence available would point to the idea that being trans is a thing, the only consistent predictor of being transgender is the desire to transition, neither anatomy nor behavior actually serve as predictors. That's why there's a lot of pushback whenever even a researcher who is sympathetic to trans people tries to find some sort of biochemical or behavioral predictor, because that would inherently imply that some cases could be illegitimate and would therefor act as a gatekeeping function, and on some level a lot of trooners and pooners seemed deathly afraid of anything that would hold up making an immediate rash decision, partially from coombrain desperation, and partially from suppressed self-doubt that they are actually doing something good for themselves

I also think it's a massive L for society that these people are allowed to call themselves doctors and practice "medicine" (read: butchery), considering not too long ago people who were born intersex were having an op to make them one or the other. Being intersex is a whole ass medical condition with health issues and there's people out there wanting to do this and people helping them do it. The original coining of the term specifically suggests it was an intent to transition into being intersex-

I'd assume intersex people would be as unhappy with that etymology as they are with hermaphrodite.

Some of the (extremely haram) desires and results in the Salmacian subreddit do sort of resemble intersex conditions when going FTM. But the fantasy a lot of them have - two sets of genitals that work perfectly, including both a penis and a clitoris - are not even something that can happen from intersex conditions. They're derived from the same initial structures, and there are internal structures that simply just wouldn't fit in that way. So some of them are unhappy with just having a blank hole shoved up their gooch and are speculating about using skin grafts from elsewhere to create "labia" or theorising about how surgeons could somehow just manage to squeeze some extra stuff in there.

I do think a lot of problems right now them from a problem a bunch of people internalizing a heuristic of sympathy when it comes to evaluating the narratives people present about themselves. It essentially becomes anything that would ever make someone feel bad about themselves, like they are inadequate or not as good as someone else, must be the wrong thing to do. You don't try to analyze and judge the claims people make, you just treat everyone as valid by default and of course everything will work out okay. It's the nerd fallacy of tolerating your extremely creepy friend because you don't want to be a bully transposed onto a societal level. Only then he feels up a female friend of yours at a party because you never set boundaries and he didn't have them internally.

This is funny because "queer" spaces are often very feminized spaces, in keeping with the groups that go there. Butch lesbians and more masculine gay men do not tend to go to these places. This is actually tasting a little bit of what it is to be male, which is that the more masculine you are, the more you can be read as dangerous by people, especially women.

No, you git, no Medicaid plan is paying for cosmetic surgery. No private insurer is covering it, either. It's a la carte, cash up front (or Care Credit, I suppose, but that generates more money, not the reverse). If anyone else wants to improve or mangle their bodies just because they want to, they have to pay every dime. And same for any care related to it.

When you're paying for it - not using my and everyone else's taxes and excessive healthcare insurance premiums, when you're not causing shortages of hormones actual women need and sometimes can't get, when copays stop increasing and coverage stops decreasing because of increased payouts for procedures/care for entitled brats getting endless surgeries - then sure, have at it. Go get an education, a fucking decent job, pay taxes, save up for years, and earn it like everybody else.
