Real gun enthusiasts would look at the history of the gun made, the aesthetics and would be closed about gun discussion instead of being open about it, but fuckers like him attracted similar-minded weebs treated the hobby like a fetish, and much like this NOT JAPANESE gacha-game, became a fucking parasite that has made the current community a landmine of complete fuck-all.

I wouldn't be surprised if airsoft community also tained by him or similar influencers to his kind due to his influences as well. I miss the old days of airsoft where such Anime degeneracy never ever embrace anywhere except in Japanese conventions, which is where GFL stuff (and other tacticool gacha games) are extremely popular.

Basically, Chinese players are seething over the fact that their raifu, Type 95, was acquaintances of some other guy named "Raymond." No mention of any serious relationship was brought up. The dialogue merely implied she had a friend other than the player at some point before meeting them. All innocent stuff, right?

In the mind of Chinese coomers, however, this amounts to the creators of the game "cucking" them, because God forbid women have a social life outside of them and them alone. As a result, Chinese players are review bombing the game. Not even removing Raymond entirely from the game and replacing him with some yuri bait seemed to quell their anger, as in their autistic fury they noticed a pendant with a lightning bolt, which in their minds is a subliminal reference to Raymond.

EDIT: Actually, I wonder if Raymond wasn't a self insert. I'm not sure how plausible that is, but you gotta figure if shit like World of Warcraft can get a weirdo coming in and writing self insert romance with Sylvanas(?) then it's not out of the realm of possibility that Raymond may have been such a self insert. I think that'd add to the drama if true. Like, World of Warcraft isn't even a waifu focused game, but GFL is... I imagine the likelihood would be more, right? The entirety of GFL (history, fanbase, company past) honestly fits into a single Prospering Grounds thread but there is too much obscure history that has been mentioned in 4chan that has little sources, unless one scrounges around weibo/bilibili. I do recall some specific narratives brought up, though correct me if some are mistaken:

- The original pitch of the game is actually based on a game called Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery. The two gachas are basically prequels to that one game, of which many of the diehard fans call it the focal point of Chinese Gacha as a whole.
- MICA's founder has a LOT of connections with other gacha companies long before GFL was a thing. Many artists also had connections but due to certain feuds and other issues, many of these people would split and find their own companies. Mihoyo was one of them but the most obvious would be their Chinese rival, Yostar and by extension Hyperglyph, the developers of Arknights (furryshit). This would explain why many GFL fans have this perceived notion that they are the first Chinese Gacha on the market long before anyone made their mark.
- Several fans especially on 4chan have a certain dislike towards some of the notable artists. I believe one of them pertains to the character G36 alongside the one intern who maintains the EN server in discord (never went in the discord so I can't confirm it right now) called "Hokor". Basically the game is riddled with performance issues and schedule issues.
- This game, alongside Azur Lane and Honkai Impact 3rd had a LOT of yurishit, as in, actual lesbian relationships that were present in-game but later years had it toned down or removed due to CCP interference. That being said, the game is heavily filled with yurishit regardless. In the past, it was often called "Gay Frontlines" for the obvious relationships of several characters (HK416 & M16, M4A1 and one other ringleader, the UMP characters). Even in the changed version, some of the yurishit still lingers (M950 and Triple Action Thunder and in the manga, its a female commander). This is why a large chunk of the fanbase are yuri types.
- As with the aforementioned NPC "cucking" for their next game, according to a post on reddit, CN players are also getting angry that the game's narrative are supporting Jewish propaganda via a part of the game called "the Lounge" by looking at the books present in the game and game files.
- This is also not counting the issues with the fans in general (Empty's suicide, drama-whoring against the Arknights fanbase, 404 Radio which has a tranny as one of the members, literal degenerates that finger their own guns).

GFL's fanbase is kinda schizo. There has always been a internecine conflict between the yurishitters, the /ak/ "I like guns with anime girls" crowd, the people who REALLY liked the Command&Conquer/Stalker/MGS fanfiction plot and the psychos that liked the "gameplay". Depending on the location you have different currents, for example the unofficial Reddit bans 95% of gun discussion because it's "offtopic". The chans are almost all porn nowadays (like anything isn't porn on the chans nowadays).

I guess GFL2 is going to be the death knell of the franchise, apparently it required an enormous amount of resources and dev time and bar the review bombing for the theoretical cuckoldry the game has predatory monetization and simply isn't much fun. Pity, I'd enjoy a decent tactical game with raifus if it wasn't a gacha skinner box.

People complain that it's based on the Genshin Impact model (that I don't know) but substantially worse, apparently you roll for guns (not for the bots) that have different "tiers" and different types of damage to fight specific enemies like we're in some fantasy game. But people keep loudly crying about it so I guess there's some real substance to the complaints.

never played GF, so can't say how it worked before, but weapons having different levels is not limited to genshin. in the end it's a power increase the company wants you to pay for, and the FOMO exists so you spend your savings.

it really comes down to how it's actually implemented + time/money required compared to what you get for free. every business model can be good or bad, depending on the company. add the MUH GATCHA whiners (while buying another monthly shark card) and it's often simply not possible to get a clear picture besides playing it and running the numbers yourself.
