I'm looking at the charts and Exilium seems to be at the point where it barely breaks even. Enough it won't go EOS but it's basically the end of the franchise relevence.
Basically the only thing it could do is go full Snowbreak (which it has already copied enough) but as it stands we saw what happened wirh Snowbreak soooooooo

Alternatively, now it is against the mission statement of being a F2P Gacha and it couldn't happen now but the core campaign and gameplay was really good. A really solid Xcom clone. Since then there hasn't been a lick of content anywhere near it. Like if you are a new player you are gonna have a good time but then what? The writing is shit, the VN segments are about as cheap and shitty as it gets.

So the issue as i see it is why would anyone continue to play it after the main campaign when the experience falls apart hard? Like the main monetization is around trying to nab the characters and playing dress up with them and/or their guns. However again once you beat the game's primary campaign the difficulty just evaporates. So you have these new chicks but really nothing to do with them. Instead it falls into a separate trap of having to use them on high level challenges or intentionally nerfing their stats which neither get you really accustomed to how they work.

Which again that issue is an issue with a lot of these F2P games. And hey at least the events are content to run through when say you have something like The First Descendent which only has high level content whenever something new is introduced. So at least the events dont really dissuade new players from a gameplay standpoint. However still the initial campaign is the only thing that is balanced.

IMO GFL2 should have been a stand alone 40 dollar game. Compared to Snowbreak that game at least tried different stuff with its gameplay, and while that game had horrible Chinese word salad story it at least respected your time, unlike GFL2 which has horrible never ending chinese word salad. And then something like Nikke has its story and setting going for it. Like GFL2 has a very good hook and enough content for a standalone game, the F2P nature of it really does make it worse. Like they should have released it as a full game and then be focused on a continuation. However that isn't what was popular back when it was being produced so they are likely fucked

I thought GFL2 was going to be a paid full game, and was slightly hyped about it. I even ignored all the info about the game because I wanted to avoid spoilers, then when I finally played it, since life had gotten in the way so i didn't start at launch. I was met with a gacha Xcom with a GFL1 skin. It's not a horrible game, and has the things to be a good Xcom clone, but the gacha nature sucks the fun out of it IMHO. I was a fate grand order F2P retard, then GFL global released and since I was a huge fan of COD and MGS. All it took was one ad to hook me in, and being able to get the T-dolls without opening my wallet, I quickly loved the game, despite the gameplay being really shitty. And seeing Mica straight up abandon that model in favor of the traditionally gacha model, really killed the hype for me personally.

And as I played more the whole game felt more like a cash grab, and worse the game was so easy it became boring. Then I got super lucky and got 416(Can't remember the stupid name they gave her)and focused her hard with upgrades, which made it even more boring cause she just obliterated everything with her stupid bike move. It got to a point I just autoed battles, until I eventually looked up the drop pool and seeing my favorite T-doll wasn't added yet all desire to play was gone, I read that is was actually pretty challenging at one point, but I guess they didn't want new people to hit walls in progress like in GFL1. But making it easy across the board was braindead. And after that I stopped playing even GFL for a while,

I saw the steam release and downloaded it, and even remembered my account details, and funnily unlocked all put a few achievements on steam, the second I logged in. But with it being pretty much on life support, with prior events playable with change in some rewards. And from what others have posted in this thread, it seems the player base keeping GFL1 afloat are just stubbornly refusing to abandon the game. I don't know if I will stick around, since the really good events AKA the collabs don't seem to be in the rotation, which sucks cause there is no way to get the collab T-dolls, but that's life.

UMP9 is best girl. No other doll comes close to her wholesome, German made, cuteness.

...oh damn, didn't realize there was a GFL thread. Time to sperg out, I guess

I know this is a bit of a necro, but they did it to themselves. For context, a (global) release day player here and I jumped ship after Springfield and her banner + event.

- The events fucking sucked. Big time. This shit has MSQ and (up until recently) was timegated so if you missed it you were SoL. On top of that every event followed the same format, kinda like that other game Blue Archive which also has events that follow a template. Guess birds of a feather really do flock together. MSQ was also of questionable quality. How do Bradleys in an open field just let a Blackhawk jump them with Hydras? What the fuck?

- Character balance was completely out of wack. When I quit, Klukai was top of the meta. If you had her V3, then the only challenge left was Gunsmoke. Voymastina took the game and broke it over her thigh and I don't have any hope left for balance. Suomi also kinda killed the healer meta but you needed her V1 to reach peak power.

- Game was too fucking boring. They went from one extreme to another, trying to grab the Snowbreak crowd. What they didn't realize is that Snowbreak also has shitty story writing, so their rewrites made a bad situation hopeless. Gameplay is extremely one dimensional. If you have V1 Suomi, you will literally never fucking die. If you have Voymastina or Klukai, then the only content that even begins to challenge you is Gunsmoke, which is basically chores. I recently logged in to check and my whole platoon went AFK and gave up because the modes were AIDS. I can't blame them, because I threw in the towel after the second week.

- They really brought over one of the most hated features in the original game, skin gacha. L M A O. Not to mention how bad the odds were and how the people who bought Makiatto's outfit got cucked out of what they paid for. Normal character gacha is meh. On the one hand 50/50 is a cancer inflicted upon the world by Mihoyo but on the other hand, I literally have 200 pulls laying around just because I played for 6 months.
I hope Exilium stays around, I've been enjoying it so far. Might pick up codename bakery too.
I guess Codename Bakery is worth picking up but the lore is way too fucking convoluted. I saw the lore documents compiled by Ferrari and gave up because I have better things to do. GFL2 did this to themselves, howerver. IIRC they rode a $18M global release and fumbled it. 0 sympathy here.

tbh I kinda feel like people tend to have rose tinted glasses when looking back at GF1. Early versions had abysmal QoL, broken downloads, broken updates, broken chink programming. Even the story was kinda boring until chapter 7 iirc (or Singularity).

Project Neural Cloud is great but it has been in maintenance mode for a while and MICA in their eternal mismanagement hell still hasn't added the last story chapters to global yet.

Release day GF2 (CN) was also a clusterfuck, with chink programming, frankly retarded chink Daiyan drama rewrites then dumping a ton of side stories as events. But overall I think the game (minus the gameplay, which I really only like the stuff from PNC and Reverse Collapse) is in a pretty decent place, the story is back on track and Corposant is probably one of the best events they've written so far.

Also, I don't really get the comparisons to Snowbreak. Can anyone explain? The lewd character skins were already there in the first game and I don't feel like a dorm system is something unique to it.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to read the story while playing the game idk what the lore documents are.

Girls Frontline Line.

IIRC the comparison is mostly on the skins being lewd and how the character designs is more gooner-ish as the game goes. That said, while GFL2 does have fair share of sexy outfits and they sometimes have a more intimate-like interactions that put you in first person view of them giving it to you, Snowbreak's sexy outfits gave you far more interactions, with one instances with nurse outfit giving you options to interact every part of the character's body to generate reaction, if my memory serves me.

Honestly, as bad as GFL2 is right now, the game is probably not gonna die yet. People seems to get interested after Corposant dropped and MICA also starts learning what marketing is (they recently opened their own merch shop outside of china), so while the game is well, not good to play, the fanbase is still keeping the cockroach to survive after surviving long past its experation date.

Depends on whether Yuzhong can afford to keep bankrolling MICA via his other side businesses/family. GFL was cheap to mantain, GFL2 I suspect not.
With Gacha it seems like the main issue is cost of entry, especially when the graphics are good. But lack of money can easily lead to death spiral as content is frozen.

I guess MICA somehow has more cash then expected, considering that 2 new games have been announced at the 10th anniversary event.
First off, we have Girls Frontline: Blue Butterfly Contract, a third-person shooter story/coop game.

The gameplay looks similar to Girls Frontline: fire control, witch isn't a good thing as from my quick google search, fire control just seems like PUBG mobile with a girls frontline skin on it. I'm not too interested myself, but it's probably going to be free to play if its under the girls frontline name.

Next up is Reverse Collapse: F, a third-person PVE shooter.

Seems like its going to be a actual game like code name bakery, instead of more gatchaslop. I think that the trailer has some cool visuals, and the gameplay looks like helldivers too. Doesn't seem like it obviously connects to code name bakery, but to be fair I haven't played much of bakery yet.

Oh and AK-12 is coming to Exilium apparently, and that jank-ass phase clash gamemode is getting a update too.

Hopefully all these games can be made before the CCP finds out that Yuzhong has stolen billions of yuan and laundered it through his silly anime gun girl company, because where else would the funding for these games come from.

It's more of a prototype thing to test the idea whether something like this would work or not, and paving the way for GFL: BBC. It's not great, but at least you can get the gist and the concept of girl's frontline game with Third Person Shooter would work or not.

AK-12 is a long-time coming that fans has expected/waited, since from the main story Corposant event (Alva/Voymastina), people has noticed that AK-12 is already in the plot, but is in deep disguise deep in antagonist's circle gathering informations and has been more or less doing that throughout the current plot in Chinese server's timeline (Chiral Redundancy, OTS-14/Groza Alter and Soppo/SOPMOD II event), so her finally going to be playable signifies new main story event is coming.

Aside of that, the PV also showcased collaboration with tokusatsu franchise (which I don't really recognize) and hinting on playable characters being:
- GFL1 characters of Type 88 Rifle (the gundam maid), Kar98k (the GFL1 mascot girl) and Sangvis Ferri Ringleader Agent)
- GFL2 Igla (the antagonist 3rd gen doll from Corposant)

It would take a long while for Global to get it, but at the very least it's something new.
