I expected high level horror connoisseur discussion here - and what do we get?
A bunch of dudes offended by True Art, and by the director and actress choice to create an exhilarating, exciting, unique scene for all of us to enjoy over centuries
So, so very disappoint

The rape tree is the highest form of art. I hope that tree got more acting roles.

We should not underestimate the pained yet filled with pleasure moans and groans of the actress that had the privilege to film that scene. I've heard they tried to refilm it in 2013 in a more zoomerfied, less brutal way, but I am not interested to spoil great art from my childhood.

Maybe fake Charles Bronson (Robert Bronzi) can do The Gardener 2?
Have the tree rape his wife/daughter, and he goes on a Death Wish vigilante spree. I'd watch that.

I'm picky about remakes. They have to be made with love for the original and also try something new. What's the point of doing the same thing when you can try to take the same story in a new direction.

Now my memory is fuzzy cause that was ages ago, but it's not really a tree, it's some transcendental evil that can inhabit bodies and all sorts of stuff, and that chick that got raped will actually become possessed (OBVIOUSLY, d'oh!) and try to murder the rest of the dudes and dudettes.
There is so much potential in a gardener vs possessed flora scenario tho'

There's also a haunted tree at the beginning of that Berserk arc, can't help to feel there was direct inspiration. Same guy who made its main villains be the literal cenobytes from Hellraiser

Did the tree rape anyone? I've never really read much of Berserk, saw some of the old Anime in the early 2000s, but I never really got into it because of the long hiatuses that would happen. I know about the cenobites and that there's armor that looks like it's from Phantom of the Paradise. I kind of always love seeing other countries interpretations of Western Horror.

Its funny how many of that generation of japanese artists were huge westaboos. Otomo from Akira and that dude from Gantz were other big ones

Autor of the Vampire Hunter D books said that he was inspired by both Westerns, and Christopher Lee's role as Dracula, said he got to see Lee once and was amazed by how tall he was. I wouldn't be surprised if Castlevaina made Dracula 10 feet tall because of Lee.

Both of the Vampire Hunter D ovas are a lot of fun. Castlevania probably took more than a few notes from that franchise.
 
Yall niggers know the rapey part of the tree was added in post. The actress didn't know they were going to add that and got mad when she saw it (in the completed film).

The rape tree is an underused plot element. Loads of movies would be improved by having rape trees.

Empire Strikes Back - Instead of the cave fight with Vader, imagine how much better it would be if Luke had to fight off a Rape Tree.
Predator - Arnold wrestling a rape tree to save the Asian woman.
Indiana Jones - Instead of a boring Indian tribe, picture Indiana running from a whole bunch of rape trees
Annihilation - Having the scare bear AND rape trees would improve this movie immeasurably. Who wouldn't want to see Natalie Portman raped by a tree?
Star Trek III - Scenes on the Genesis Planet were very boring. Would be much improved by rape trees.

All the stupid female reboot movies would be improved by rape trees. I could go on and on.
