Wait, what year is it again? Didn't this exact same thing already happen when the review of The Room first went up?
It did, and it looks like Tommy's gone on another copyright spree since I Hate Everything's got a strike too.

And I have a feeling we're getting a barrage of WTFU videos shortly.

WTFU is nice when it comes to protecting people from copyright strikes to silence negative opinions (like in this case), but man I really dislike the attitude some other Youtubers have when it comes to using otherwise unrelated media for their commercial videos, especially when it comes to artwork and music.

@MarzGurl, (or @LordKaT ), wasn't it well known that CA has been screwing with its contributors? I read somewhere for all of their movies, they didn't pay people who went to Chicago or New Mexico (wasn't one of their movies set somewhere there?) at all, only recompensating their travel/food expenses and a copy of their terrible film that already was free on the Internet.

I wouldn't say screwed with them (that would imply a level of forethought that they don't have), but they didn't understand how money worked.

Case in point, Reno, NV (not New Mexico) - got flown out TO Reno. Not paid for a weeks worth of work, bought my own meals, given a fucking signed copy of Kickassia as a reward. I also needed to pay for my own ticket back from Reno because LOL they didn't buy me one (nobody else seemed to have that problem though).

That's the kind of behavior you can expect from desperate people, and I'll admit I was pretty desperate back then, but that doesn't mean you should abuse that.

In the end that is just abusive relationship; but, we were "contractors" so it was A-OK!

It's current year, obviously.

I would not be surprised if there were a flood of WTFU videos in response towards this.

Though sad thing is, I'm willing to take Tommy more seriously (even if he's crazier) than I even could Daddy Derek. Doesn't mean it's any less stupid though.

Sorry for not seeing this earlier, I'm on a trip to Los Angeles this week.

This has been talked about publicly even by current Channel Awesome members, but it's true, our flights and hotels and meals while filming during the day were paid for (not dinners). We as actors weren't paid. In the infancy days of Channel Awesome, we didn't care. We were thrilled to be involved in something like that year one fight. But once it came around to To Boldly Flee, like, each year we counted on being able to use crossover videos with one another to our advantage. However, we had contracts made up that said that any crossovers we filmed while out to film To Boldly Flee would be given to Channel Awesome rather than uploaded to our own channels. After everyone disagreed with that plan, we managed to get the agreement down to letting them take just one of our videos. So the producers' plans were to make multiple videos so that we could at least keep one for ourselves and at least make some money while we were out there for over a week.

What the fuck was Lupa's whole deal, anyway?

@LordKaT can probably tell you more, but from my recollection, she was the target of sexism by Mike Michaud and probably Rob Walker? Mike definitely. There was a thing about the higher ups blaming her for the site's problems with adblock because she had mid rolls (ads in the middle of the review), and if this sounds stupid as shit to you, that's because A: It is and B: Fucking everyone had mid rolls by that point. At some point, Mike and Rob wanted to sit down and have a Skype chat with her, and she happened to be AFK a lot that day-and told people she would be. They fired her because they couldn't get in touch with her.

Anything you feel like adding, LK?

So, okay, if it's possible to combine posts, I'll figure it out in a bit. Until then, apologies for back-to-back postings.

You're right, I actually insisted that our grunts wear black sneakers. But then they showed up, and this is what they were wearing. I asked, "Are these your black sneakers?" And they were like, "Yeah, that's all we have." And we literally couldn't even afford more shoes, so... crappy color matching it is, fine. Thanks, guys.

Ironically, that exact same thing happened on my wedding day with some of the same folks just a few months earlier. Got tuxes rented, and my Matron of Honor begged the dudes to get nice black shoes to match, and they showed up in sneakers. Just can't get people to care.
I don't mnow if there's a more consise way to do it, but I always just click the quote button, cut the quote out, and then paste it onto previous one.

Didn't you also fuck up your legs really bad during that? I remember that happening to someone back when I watched this stuff.

I still can't get over how Linkara say's (probably with a straight face with that autistic little smirk) how that set cost 24K. I still can't get over that. I couldn't help but be reminded of Roger Corman's Alien ripoff Galaxy of Terror:

Notice that orange part of the wall? Looks futuristic, right? Total cost for that wall: $12. A young James Cameron worked as a set designer/effects guy/etc for Corman and Cameron and his crew went to a McDonalds and either bought a whole bunch of cardboard Big Mac containers or raided a dumpster, hot glued the containers to that wall and spray painted the whole thing orange. Corman confirms this anecdote here:

Galaxy of Terror is a fun Alien ripoff BTW but I digress. Only thing I'm going to say is that unless Linkara produces receipts, I'm calling it that he pocketed the money.

Honestly, I seriously doubt Lewis has even seen a Corman film. Say what you will about his filmography, he's got a better grasp of budgeting than Linky boy.

Corman is a genuine pro; he knows how to shoot films cheap and make genuine movies that can be enjoyed by the audience.

But this is what happens when you can't be arsed to learn the medium you want to play with.

Depends, did Sterling do something as autistic and hilarious as write a book on how a videogame prevented him from killing himself, which included such fine details as ignoring his grandmother's death rattles while playing said game, comparing seeing a promo of a game to 9/11, and thinks he was just as traumatized as a Nam vet?
No, but he did spend a long time threatening random women on the internet for disagreeing with him, such as telling a women she's a "cunt" and a "feminazi slut" who "needs to ask her husband if she has permission to use the computer next time", and making Tweets where he "jokingly" talks about "shoving [his] fist up your cunt and ripping out your fallopian tubes" and other such similar sexualized violence involving women.

Three months later, he's tweeting out that men should be mindful about being in isolated elevators with women because they need to be aware that they're all potential rapists and shouldn't be creepy.

Jim Sterling has always been a slimy little chump who has never believed a single thing he says. "Ironic" misogyny was a thing around 2010, so he leaned hard into it, but then social justice became a big thing a few years later, so he changed his tune to that. He's always been a self-aggrandizing, obnoxious and hateful man who bullies everyone around him - the only thing that changes over the years is his targets.
