I had a a similar take, but then he fell for the hoax of one of his atalkers being the son of a notorious mob-hitman, and held that notion even though some people told him that the profile pic he posted was from some actor who starred in the Sopranos.

He does too many absolutely retarded things to be midwit. He is certainly a narcissist, but most narcissists are very good at seeming smarter than they are and are excellent manipulators.
He is horrendously fat and bad at both of those things. Everyone thinks he is a retard, and complete strangers hate him after suffering 5 minutes of his disgusting behavior.

Honestly this has got to be it. Nobody just grows up and becomes somebody like Pat, this only happens under a very specific set of circumstances, his brother appears to have turned out normal, without any of the problems that make Patrick a delusional loser. Momma really fucked up, I'm sure she told him he was "special" and despite all the metrics and anecdotal incidents suggesting he was just another low-IQ pussy, he was "perfect". A normal mother would be supportive but, be realistic, offer her son guidance that would not make him into a delusional narcissistic, unable to cope with reality. When you fall down a good parent would dust you off and ask you "what did you learn about watching where you step?", I'm sure Pat' mother would threaten to sue the people who installed the floor. Hindsight is 20/20 but, we all know that coddling children is never going to end well.

On the topic of his intelligence (or lack thereof), I think he's just a lower-tier midwit whose alcoholism and personality disorders have wrecked what intelligence he ever had

To me, this is Fat's biggest failing. If he had the ability to laugh at himself none of this would have happened to him, but he just such a prideful midwit it is impossible for him.
All he had to do was admit that Norm was funny or just laugh it off and he would be a living a normal mediocre life, but instead here he is, in debt, failed court cases and, of course, FAT.

Not even that. He just had to not respond to the trolls. It’s not even a choice he can’t take back, he could just stop responding literally any day and they would eventually leave him alone because it’s not fun/funny to mess with him. He describes his parents are "warriors". When you are 9 years old you think your dad is superman, and then you grow up and realize he's just a normal "dad". I love my dad, he taught me how to shoot and how to fix things he worked really hard to be make it so we had what we needed but, he can't bend steel beams with his bare hand. Patrick seems to think his dad is some kind of folk hero. Any asshole can fall off a bull, if he was any good at it, we'd have records to show he placed in competition. I think it's really really funny fatty tried to follow his dad's footsteps and ended up in the hospital.
