I see. Either way, it's probably best not to dwell on it. We like taking the piss out of the Salford Scumbag rather than talking about whatever marathon you've ran. (Though I recommend doing the Race For Life in Heaton Park if you are ever in Hayden's general hometown area, I hear it's actually pretty good and you can raise a lot of money for breast cancer research).

I absolutely believe that having a Trans Hotline is a worthy project. When I was younger, it wasn't until I was able to communicate with other Trans people that I realized there was a future for people like me. I often hear from Trans people who are just looking to communicate with someone like them and I make it a point to make sure they know their lives and their truths are precious and worth living.

As for a specific person or specific organization. I'm not going to cast judgement not knowing the full facts or listening to both sides. I will say I have friends who have volunteered for Trans Lifeline. I've wanted to contribute myself in some way, either volunteering or raising money through races. However, knowing there are at least aspersions of doubt, I'll do my due diligence before going forward with those plans.

Did you ever hear about your friend's experiences with the service? Once again, I think the concern here is not the thing in itself so much as the sociopath running it.

I don't see a problem with it. Different people experience Gender Dysphoria at different levels. I don't think anyone should be forced to undergo medical and/or surgical treatment they don't want or need just to have their identity validated. It's why I'm strongly against medical requirements to change government identification. And if you're asking about in media, well... art imitates life.

And yes, but it's hardly a title to aspire to. You can't condemn the culture here out of one side of your mouth and condone participation from the other, obviously.
The last thing we'd want to see is Julie Rei, honorary kiwi shitposter, of course. It'd be hilarious, but you'd never be allowed in the special oppression club again. *sigh*
