All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

I'm tempted to vote for Johnson because that fucking "feel the Johnson" meme. At least if Dr. Stein isn't on the PA ballot

Also Johnson has a few batshit ideas thrown in there, like abolishing the minimum wage. And then Jill Stein has her nuclear power and vaccine issues.

And also you guys must be new to politics if you didn't see the Sanders endorsement coming. It happened in 2008 and it'll happen basically in every election ever. You can't win an election if 45% of your base is still divided.

The Greens have dropped the anti-vax position after they realized they weren't making any allies that weren't batshit insane. Besides, we should be pushing to adopt renewable energy, reguardless of political ideology.

I wonder how r/Donald is going to react if the GOP retains or doubles down on free trade.

r/Donald will be a goldmine for salt if Hillary wins the election in November.

Personally I think it should be a heavy push away from coal and oil and into a very diverse mix of solar, wind, passive hydroelectric and nuclear energy. Fun Fact: Coal produces more radiation than Nuclear.

We should build a thermal generator for every Trump or Clinton supporter, attach them and wait until November. Whichever one loses, the heat energy produced by their impotent rage would provide enough power to run America for the next century at least.

Um fam, one of the first things black parents teach their kids is to not be overly confrontational to police officers or anyone. It's called "The Talk" and its when a black parent has to break it down to their child (usually at a young age) that their classmates and grownups might not treat them fair all the time because of the way they look, and that its a part of life. Seriously do you even know any black people?

My boyfriend was first given "The Talk" at the age of 7 when he and his sisters were walking back from school. They lived in a rural farming community in Central California so it was a 2-3 hour walk from school to home in Santa Maria.

On the way there a truck with some young white guys passed by, and one of them threw a beer bottle in their direction nearly hitting my boyfriend's older sister. As they drove by another one yelled out "GO BACK TO AFRICA YOU FUCKING NIGGERS!!!"

My boyfriend up to that point didn't know what a "nigger" was so he asked his mom. And she gave him "The Talk". And that's how my boyfriend learned he was different.

So all the black people you know lived in majority white neighborhoods and went to majority white schools where they are the minority. And you think those are representative of the majority of blacks in the US? Lol. The US is still majorly segregated, especially in urban areas. I would love to see some cracker ass white boy really experience what the other side is like, living as a white kid in ghetto ass majority black public schools. It's just a shower of tolerance and racial harmony, hahahaha. The endless racial bullshit between dark and light skinned is just the top of the iceberg, you really have no clue "fam".

I am honestly curious, what would you reccomend as a solution?

Maybe start by recognizing that the problem hasn't been skin colour for quite some time. If it was, the repercussions would be the same for every black person, regardless of origin or social class, and yet they clearly aren't. I feel like a broken record bringing up modern black african immigrants, but it's only because it's such an obvious data point. Pre civil rights revolution a black african immigrant WOULD've been subject to the same systemic, institutional racism as any other black person. They no longer are, because there no longer is systemic, institutional racism, no matter how fervently modern SJW's fantasize about it.

I'm suprised, disappointed, and slightly pleased with the GOP's platform draft. They're still trying to worm their way out of outright condemning free trade by envisioning "a worldwide multilateral agreement among nations committed to the principles of open markets, what has been called a “Reagan Economic Zone,” in which free trade will truly be fair trade for all concerned". The old 'trust us we got it' tactics...because that worked for NAFTA.
How would the average joe feel if they ended up having to pay more once the US places tarrifs on goods that are part of the average American's lifestyle.

The usual pandering, balancing the budget but still slashing income and corperate taxes.
I like the bit oncontinuing the fight of abortion and federal marriage laws...but I remembered they don't extend their human dignity rehtoric to expressly oppose torture and unnessisary use of capital punishment. The large parts that I hate is
  • wanting to turn federal land set aside for conservation over to states,
  • wanting to drag our energy policy backwards by including coal, instead of encouraging American companies to invest in development of renewable power and manufacturing the equipment here
  • Calling coal a 'green' energy... go fuck yourself
  • and continuing the wasteful agricultural policy that encourages overproduction and wastes food that could go and feed struggling American families

I hope Don picks Rudy G. or General Flynn as Vice President.
Based on how the social conservatives are doubling down on the abortion plank, I doubt General Flynn would be welcomed.

I just find the fact that trannies in bathrooms is a core part of both platforms. I am glad that both parties are choosing this as the proverbial hill they want to fight and die on. "14,000 dams could cause death and significant economic losses should they fail, with 70% of all dams will be over 50 years old in 2020". "Fuck that, let's go find more non-issues to turn into issues so a portion of our base will be appeased."

Hillary Clinton is never going to win. Keven & Don will see to that.

I dunno, I could see this turning into a re-run of the 1964 election. On the one hand, you've got an establishment Democrat who's shady as fuck. On the other hand, there's an outsider Republican candidate who advocates the solutions that many blue collar workers find appealing (in Trump's case banning Muslims from entering the country, in Barry Goldwater's case dropping nukes on Moscow). And the latter guy might have a certain appeal, but people will probably wake up to just how nucking futs he is when they're in the polling booths.
