The people who want to move because of the result kind of confuse me. One of Remain's arguments was that it was better to stay and fix the problems with the EU rather than being cowards and running away. And yet they're the first ones advocating moving out of the country now that things haven't gone their way.
 
I've been seeing this everywhere, but seriously: Why is Brexit as bad as they say it is? I keep hearing the news outlets and tumblr is blowing up, but I still have no clue what's going on.

Are they assuming that they'll end up like Germany after WW1?

One of the most amusing things about this is seeing who doesn't know that the EU and the Council of Europe are different organisations so they're crying about something that isn't changing.
 
I have one word to sum it up: Good.

UE is borked as it is, and for few last years the amount of idiotic legislations and pressure on every country participating has only risen. Oh, I do hope it all goes to shit and Merkel, being in love with Adolf's legacy, blows her own brains like her hero did in 45. Seriously, fuck that bitch.
 
American pretending to have a deep understanding of European politics here.

The EU isn't the success it's been made out to be in the last few weeks. It had its good things, sure but it was really like going to a wedding and forcing yourself to mingle with the other family: you want to be polite to those strangers but you'd rather keep to your own.

I'm honestly more worried about the economic waves than anything else.

1) "Experts" have maintained that for years, free trade agreements have benefited nations economically. They preach this from their ivory tower built on the backs of unskilled labor, which is severely gypped by most of the FTAs we in the West have negotiated. They conviently ignore the growing civil discontentment from workers because their cheap crap from abroad helps them shuffle more money away from their own country.
2) Social justice advocates lament the loss of the EU's immigration provisions because it makes it one iota harder for Syrian and Iraqi refugees to escape their countries of origin. If you're an EU member, you have to honor visas granted by other EU members. This, in no small part, has contributed to a rising wave of crime in the UK's urban regions. While Britain still may not have the political ambition to stop the flood of refugees, they at least now have the option, which is really pissing off the Tumblr and Huffpo crowds.
3) The UK is tired for paying for and cleaning up others' messes, like Greece.

There are some genuine short term concerns about what it will mean for world markets, but unless you're a major financial player your day to day life isn't going to change much. The EU will eventually lose about 10% of its total funding, which redistributes it through various programs to poorer member states. Trade deals will have to be rewritten. The status of UK citizens working abroad and foreigners working in the UK will have to be figured out. I suppose there's a chance that the financial industry in City of London leaves for another country, but I don't know how that weird medieval legal status works in the confines of the EU.

I think the most likely (but still slim) worst case scenario is that other members decide to stop cutting Germany a percentage of their GDP and realize they don't want to listen to Brussels. The EU had a noble ideal, but still suffered from the realpolitik of stronger nations jerking around weaker nations both financially and legally for the benefit of their own economies. The reason the media is freaking out is because the media is owned by the very people who have the most to lose when citizens tell them to piss off.

Good. The sooner the aid-bribe money is cut off to our goverment the sooner they'll have zero reason to tolerate EU bullying.

The goverment is so corrupt the average hungarian will never see any of it anyway....
 
Looks like they've finally realized that "people R 2 DUMB 2 Vote" isn't a winning argument, and have tried to make it more palatable with "old people should be ignored since they're going to die soon anyway...."

Either way, the hypocrisy shows through plainly.

The first old person to say "These youngsters shouldn't be given the vote, why should I let them just casually destroy something I spent my whole life building?" would be run off the internet on a metaphorical rail, but turn it around, and it's progressive....

And let this be a lesson to the SJW crowd, when your preferred method of trying to control politics is to knee-jerk label any and all dissent as racism, sexism and mental retardation, don't be surprised if those labels eventually lose their bite and people will vote for whatever they wanted in the first place because they realize they're going to get called names by you no matter what they do.

Granted, I don't think Brexit is a good idea (though Brussels in its current form can fuck itself), but to pretend old people just did it to spite your progressive views is some serious "petulant baby" shit.
 
Over on NPR on the way to work they had somebody from The Economist crying about how everybody's doomed, finishing with how you can't have prosperity without immigration.
