All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

"Marginalized." What a completely non-racist way of saying "dumb niggers."

The person Rubio should be trying to get to drop out is Kasich, not Cruz. Kasich is the one who is gonna poach moderate voters. If Cruz drops out, my money is on Trump getting a bigger boost than Rubio.

No way Cruz is dropping out - frankly I think he's slightly insane and makes Trump look like the lesser evil choice...relatively speaking, given Trump is just a foreign relations disaster waiting to happen, while Cruz thinks abolishing the main group in charge of collecting taxes is going to fix anything.

Trump is a lunatic but Cruz is a filthy pigfucker.

The time for that was before now.

Now they're stuck with a candidate who openly promises to abolish the Constitution and bring back seditious libel laws to prevent criticizing the government he wants to be absolute monarch of.

The thing is, this, like much of what Trump wants to do, will only happen when hell freezes over. Trump probably knows this as well. Trump will have a hard time doing anything since congress will oppose him just as hard as they opposed anything Obama did. Likely harder since neither party likes Trump.

Of course, wanting to do something and actually being able to do something as President is easier said than done. I can't seriously believe that the Senate or House would allow the First to be breached so blatantly, nor would all the states required ratify it. If that did happen, then I can only shrug my shoulders and go back to living in the UK, where our chief concern is how much money our MPs steal to build duck houses and how many dead animals David Cameron had fellate him back in the day.

It's an artifact of the US electoral process that all candidates are running for a position that doesn't exist - the all-powerful President who can legislate by fiat and implement any program they want.

Setting aside the fact that the presidency comes with profound power beyond what's in Article 2 thanks to the bully pulpit and a media presence bigger than any other elected official, it'll be interesting to see what happens in Congress if Trump's elected. The president does have a huge influence on legislative agendas, but usually as a supporter. He's not popular among Republican establishment representatives and Senators. I wonder what impact that'll have on his agenda, or even congressional politics.

Hillary or Trump? Might as well ask if we prefer being shot or hung.*sigh*

Welp, looks like I'll be voting third-party for the fourth straight election. And yeah, yeah all that "wasted vote" bullshit. I don't like either candidate, why the hell should I be forced to choose between Chinese water torture or being sodomized with an electric drill?

I think this is where the Executive Order comes into play. Obama has used it a ton over the past few years just to get something he wants passed over Congress's head.

Trump will have a hard time getting a lot of stuff through Congress, but he'll force it through. And that should scare the shit out of any law-abiding citizen.

And honestly, the Republican party has become a massive joke. When you're most reputable "candidates" are a narcissistic real-estate developer, a John's Hopkins surgeon, a failed executive at HP, Donald Trump-lite, and the brother of one of the biggest embarrassments as POTUS... your party has major issues. They cannot relate to the common man and are seen as people who only care about those that are loyal to them and them alone. When you're seen as holding the country back from the issues that it faces, of course you're going to get backlash.

Probably not much different than what it is now - it's not like the Republicans like Obama any more than Trump.

But if Trump wins, the REAL fun is gonna be watching Fox News have an anurism. What happens when the Republican Propaganda Channel disagrees with the President...except said President isn't a Democrat?

If Trump does win (For the record I still consider it unlikely, but let's say) there might be a surge of goodwill towards him from house Republicans. Whether it would last would probably depend on whether Trump is a popular President or not, e.g. whether running for reelection under an 'I stood with Donald' banner is a winning proposition or not.

Welp, I'm voting for Gary Johnson if this election is really coming down to a "populist nationalist" versus Richard Nixon in a pantsuit. I never thought I would be in a position where I'm hoping Michael Bloomberg would run.

Yeah bloomberg has a really authoritarian bent to him that only comes from a environment of absolute power.

That may have been a minor legislative issue, but it showed a serious lack of proportion as well as being completely out of touch. Something not noted was it was not a "law" in the sense of coming from the legislature, but a unilateral pronouncement by Bloomberg himself through his appointees purporting to have the force of law.

That's why it was thrown out as unconstitutional.

It shows a very fucked up (and in fact lawless) way of operating.
