The PS Price increase was demanded to be done by Sony Group's CFO, Hiroki Totoki. Who is the same guy who got Sony to raise the prices of some of their electronics earlier this year.

It was being considered by Sony Group to be something they wanted to do for awhile because in their last report they mention the currency discrepancies.

For people wondering why America didn't get the price increase, that's simple. Everything is tied to the dollar.
Bruh the price increase has already happened, their is only one version of the PS5 available, and that one is already 564. Regular PS5 is never going to be restocked at all.

The regular non-bundle PS5s were restocked a few times this week already.

The Horizon Bundle was apparently made in much larger quantities and supposedly the bundled versions of both physical and digital are sold at a profit where as the non-bundled versions have the digital version selling at a loss while the physical sells at a profit. That's supposedly how they have everything set up.

The price increases do fall more in line with currency exchange bullshit rather than wanting to raise the profit ratio. The high water mark for the system was around $700-$900, and there's still plenty of people who want the system. The price increase as of current keeps the profit % per sale, the same as it was 6 months ago.

They've been laying more groundwork for media distribution with purchases like Rightstuf, they've got now large networks for physical and digital forms of media. They're essentially spending a ton on company infrastructure for the sole purpose of having a much larger network for their IPs to produce more material. The acquisitions are still not over, and supposedly won't be fully announced into possibly the first quarter of 2023. So them wanting to keep their income streams stable at a time like this where they're spending their profits on getting more companies does make some sense.

Spending more for a PS5 in this day and age is looking more and more like a liability than just the ability to consoom. Even some of the old retro vidya consoomers that I watch online tell me they’d much buy emulator handheld devices or old PS1/PS2 discs of a few games that they never got the chance to play.

To give you the short story, all of this entire packaging forcing you to spend more money that you don’t have on this console that you can’t even play with not too many good games, it’s making people just play old PlayStation games on old PlayStation consoles.

“Power to the players” is such a bold-faced lie in this new generation.

That's GameStop. PS is "Greatness Awaits."

Tell me why did Aloy gain weight since last time?

Thing is, the “greatness“ part does not seem too great when Sony can’t even their get marketing done for the PS5 correctly. Even with the success of Elden Ring, Dragon’s Dogma, Ratchet & Clank and Returnal, it’s still four games that are great that are on top of mildly forgettable to almost mediocre games for the PS5. Backwards compatibility is still the only saving grace for this thing, and even then, it’s not worth justifying buying almost $70 worth a game.

Now, I get rising costs, and I even get that we have a bigger chip shortage than Keffals' pantry, but lemme get this straight: no one has your console because virtually no one can buy it (and also no games lol) and your first console-related news since the launch is a FUCKING PRICE HIKE?! DURING A GODDAMN RECESSION?!

To me it doesn't seem that bad because I remember the PS3 at launch and it was genuine garbage for a long ass time.

I imported a few things for the PS3 even back then but still it was pretty bad up until the last few years of the system. The PS5 imports that I have in my collection currently are of better quality than what the PS3 had to offer, even PS5 ports are at least on par or better with the competition, where as the PS3 was known to struggle with ports.

Sony would have honestly killed for the PS3 to be performing as well as the PS5 is currently doing. Right now in terms of overall library, it still hedges out the PS3 and PS4.

That's because the PS4 library is compatible with the PS5.

I can count three original titles for the PS5: Rift Apart, Astro's Playroom and Demon's Souls.

Well both GOW and Horizon got PS4 editions made at the 11th hour. If the supply chains were not fucked up theoretically, those versions would not exist.

However sony has stopped mentioning the PS4 in reports so they're not relying on it as much as they did months before. It is being jettisoned.

As far as exclusives go all the other Cross media projects they are announcing usually are supposed to have a game involved. The Gravity Rush one is interesting because the studio that has the rights to it is Team Asobi. And around the same time they released a promotional video about them.

If anything they could probably fix the problems with the series and possibly elevate the series with a new installment. They seem to have open world collectible design and platforming down pat, and would most certainly benefit GR's core gameplay.

Outside of the PS2, playing the waiting game has pretty much always been part of being an early adopter for Playstation. They take a while to build up, but once they do there's really no slowdown in momentum.

That's fine. But why make it complicated to upgrade your copy from PS4 to PS5?

Even better: you'd pay $10 more MSRP to have your game PS5 branded when you could buy the last gen version for $10 cheaper and have the upgrade?

FUCK NO. I'd rather the Gravity Rush series stay dead and buried than let that French pedophile fuck and his "Japanese" team get their slimy fingers anywhere near it.

Don't forget Spider Man 1.5: Black/Gay Spiders' Lives Matter, Horizon: Forbidden Beautifulness, and Dad of War 2: Now the BOI's Slightly Older. PC owners are quaking in their boots at the awesome power of the Play-Taco 5!

And you can also add Gran Turismo X.7, as I don't know which number GT game would be similar to GT7, due to GT7's limited features and forced always-online play.

You keep saying PS3 was garbage for a long time but within 2 years it had more and better exclusives than PS5 is poised to have in the same timeframe. It has little worth upgrading for.
