shit looks like this but as a real game

Official gameplay reveal is here and HOLY SHIT, is this accurate. SEGA literally took "HIRE THIS MAN" and made it a real ass game. Looks like you can automatically boost whenever you want....no momentum based mechanics. Not even 5 minutes worth of gameplay, fukkin' unbelievable. Expectations remain at rock-bottom.

Not gonna lie, I was kinda bored by this demo.

I also noticed that shadows don't have a very long draw distance, a lot of the platforms don't have LODs and just pop-in, and higher detail textures pop-in pretty close as well.

The reflection and lighting looked nice, but the environment is kinda boring for a Sonic game.

Also, the game felt slow for a Sonic game. I did appreciate seeing Chao at the end; however, I want still want the Chao Garden to return.

Hate to burst your optimism bubble, but those weren't chao. Some sort of sentient onion-looking things.

Lost World fans, if they exist, are the real winners here. Game seems to implement the 'idealised' LW gameplay that people wanted, as in Sonic has some form of momentum-based speed (rather than a run button), as well as boosting.

Dude those were rock baby things, I mean if there is a Chao Garden thing with them then it could still work.

The ugly fucking goblin person, Ricky Berwick has a top comment on the video.

And I honestly have to agree with him.

Yeah, I just got done watching the trailer and in addition to being an excuse to get people into parkour; that island is an little bit on the small side and it's basically just "Green Hill Zone ON AN FORGOTTEN ISLAND!" just by looking at the background.

Only way to save this is to just explain what those mysterious robots are because this feels like that mode in SA1 where you wander around to start those missions.

Dude you need to calm down, the only Green Hill things about the location is that it's green and has trees.

I don't understand how people can bring up how it's a grassy generic forest location like the other open world games with the main one being Breath of the Wild (which is something that I can't deny) while saying "it's just Green Hill Zone all over agian" which would mean that it's not generic.

One could say that it's generic for Sonic but if it was really just Green Zone or something similar to it then it would obviously be familiar and you wouldn't have people saying that "it's not Sonic."

I can't believe some Sonic fans legitimately think Frontiers will be dramatically better then what we see in this demo because "It was just a demo!". I swear a lot of Sonic fans don't actually play other video games.

Frontiers looks a tech demo that needs at least another year to be properly made, why make an open world game if you're going to try to automate the fuck out of it like every other 3D sonic game? It is like they saw BOTW and forgot people liked having freedom to do things normally as intended or even just outright break the physics entirely to achieve the same result of getting to X location. They are too lazy/incompetent to make a moveset for Sonic that worked in this genre. So they just added rails, dash pads, runnable walls, and springs so they don't have to think at all. Just slap some shit on the floor and Sonic explores the world as intended.
