Much more likely they'll evaporate by mid season if bloois isn't winning. Either way this is never going to be shut up about by those types.
We can only hope so. These guys are just so annoying. I think I wouldn't even give much of a shit about Hamlestier being so full of himself if these morons weren't always ragging about how awesome this guy is.

I mean, seriously, when something bad happens to Bloowis they'll watch him do a 10 minute tard-baby-tantrum and then turn around and without the least bit of irony claim that he's taking it like a true gentleman.
I am enjoying the seeth that Vestappen running the number 1 is still bringing out though. I'm glad he is because it's about time the reigning champion cared more about the sports traditions than their personal brand.
Verstappen running #1 is absolutely hilarious. But I have to admit, it's one of the few positive things about Hamilton that he didn't run #1. It#s that tiny bit of being down to earth.
But if he gets the title again, you can bet your ass he's gonna run #1 and never shut up about it.
Yeah, either way, whether a wannabe or didn't mature the right way, he's a clown. LOL

McLaren have new brake ducts. Reading the article, they could only do 4 hot laps consecutively on Days 1 & 2 of test and 10 on Day 3. So, this fix needs to be 5 times better at least or they in trouble.
I was a bit surprised that the brake ducts are that big of a deal. I would have thought that would be the smallest issue to solve on an F1 car, but this just goes to show how complex aero is in this day and age. Also goes to show: You can simulate this stuff in a PC, you can simulate it in a wind tunnel, but you actually need to run the car on a racetrack to really see what it's going to do.

Only about 14 hours until FP1!!

I have seen the following pic a number of times now and don't think it was ever put in the thread. So here it is! Its the best image I have seen that really shows the dramatic differing philosophies with this year's designs,

More and more, I get the impression that Hamilton is going to do something monumentally stupid this year and then act like a petulant teenager in the aftermath. It is hard not to see him, in terms of maturity, not as an elder statesman of the sport, but as a young adult in the body of a man, with all of the attendant drama.

The FIA should have been more proactive in cracking the whip and bringing about a resolution that placed F1 as an entity ahead of the drivers. Instead of bringing meaningful closure to the concluding events of the 2021 season, they let Hamilton mope around on a long leash. Nothing has been resolved. It is going to play out on track, not in a good way, but in a manner that will very likely be nasty and meanspirited. I've been watching F1 long enough to recall a time when a collision like the one Verstappen had at Silverstone last year would have killed or seriously injured him.

It's a shame because this season appears to hold a lot of promise, and one man seems intent on dragging it down with his personal drama. I kind of wonder what Lauda would have said to him, if he were still alive.

Let us hope the porpoising Mercedes does not exacerbate it's number one driver's third-degree butthurt.

The worst is when it's very clearly his fault and ofter a deliberate tantrum. We saw examples of it when fighting for championships up against Rossberg. He would pull some really dumb maneuver that was only ever going to end in both cars wrecked then everyone would set about trying to blame Rossberg for not knowing Lewis was about to pull something dumb and avoiding it. How many of those were him going in knowing that dumb thing would ensure they both go out but it can be played as a mistake is a different question.

I'm sure someone must have handed Rossberg a sweet deal to retire so they didn't have to play the petulant child wrecking both cars game again.

Oh great so we are going to spend coverage time for probably the first half of this season at least pkaying let's discuss the end of last season... again. I don't think I've ever seen this much bullshit in F1 coverage even when there were real controversies happening not just "but muh safety car". It really shows how new to the sport the majority of the current "fans" are that this is somehow the worst thing ever rather than say drivers deliberately and blatantly crashing out rivals or whatever the fuck Balestre was doing in in '89.

If Lewis wasn't black and the events of last year went down, I could see @Weeb Slinger the exact scenario as you described is how it would have went down. Still never heard anything about "punishment" for missing the awards. Anyone else hear any more on that? Yeah, I didn't think so! LOL If anything, the new arab dude probably brought Lewis in his office and said we will let it pass this time. Then gave him a couple of harem girls to suck his dick to show Lewis there was no hard feelings.

I hope that Mercedes is in a scrap to just finish in top 5 at the end of race. If they have gone down the wrong path with this car, and with the competitiveness of most of the midfield with most of them teams having seemed to even make some in roads to closing down the top 3 a bit, then I will be quite be pleased! They have been on top too long, it is time for Merc to have to deal with immense pressure. And the realization pretty early in to the season that they won't be repeating bar some miracle upgrade.

I expect there will be a lot of discussion here in our thread after the race, whatever plays out!

Las Vegas Strip Formula 1 race announcement ‘imminent’ (Las Vegas)
"An official announcement regarding a Formula One race on the Las Vegas Strip is “imminent,” according to a person with knowledge of the situation."

NASCAR, Hendrick Motorsports team up for special Le Mans entry in 2023 (NASCAR)
"The project... would bring a specially prepared Camaro ZL1 from the NASCAR Cup Series into the international motorsports scene’s biggest endurance race. Once approved by race organizer l’Automobile Club de l’Ouest, the proposed entry would fill the Garage 56 slot — an extra starting berth that showcases innovative vehicles outside of the race’s traditional classes."

Edwards returns to commentary booth for revamped F1TV coverage

Former BBC and Channel 4 F1 commentator Ben Edwards will return to the commentary booth as part of a new line up for the official F1TV streaming service this season.
Motorsport Broadcasting report that Edwards will commentate this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix alongside former F1 driver Jolyon Palmer and will be featured in ten races in this year’s championship.
The pair will be included on the main feed of F1TV, instead of the Sky Sports English commentary team of David Croft and Martin Brundle. They will be joined by Will Buxton, Sam Collins and Tom Gaymor.

So, I read this article below just now and it made me think, you know what's the one thing we haven't really talked about since 2022 began here in the thread? Something that usually got talked about a fair amount. That's right. Tires.

By all accounts from what I have read over last couple of weeks, the drivers' who have made comments about this year's tires all seemed to like them and felt they allowed you to push, i.e. race hard every lap, and as a result there won't be as much (hopefully none!) of this driving to a delta bullshit before pitting. I can't recall who were the drivers comments I read (maybe Carlos or Charles and I think someone else) but I do remember the comments were that they were better.

So, of course, the clown apparently feels different. I wonder why? Maybe because now that Merc ain't looking likely to be out in the lead and as drivers won't be driving to a delta and will be attacking, Lewis can see he is going to have to work his ass off to do well in a race. Sowing the seeds of blame on why he will suck this year has already begun.

Hamilton slates Pirelli over tyres 'worse than last year'

Thursday 17 March 2022 07:00

Lewis Hamilton has criticised Pirelli for supplying tyres that are "worse this year" ahead of the F1 season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Mercedes endured a mixed pre-season test as the team battled to get to grips with its radical new 'disappearing sidepod' concept.

Despite catching the eye with its design, the Silver Arrows failed to make an impact on the timesheets compared to rivals Red Bull and Haas with Hamilton's best effort across the three days putting his just 16th overall.

Mercedes has previously labelled its 2021 car a "diva" and asked if this was again an appropriate description, Hamilton explained: "It’s not necessarily a word I would potentially use.

"I think 2022’s car regulations have meant, for everyone with everyone sliding around, we all seem to have less grip than before, the tyres are worse this year.

“On the long runs, it’s physically a lot easier for me, what I’ve found here. The positives so far, following another car looks a little bit better which is hopefully the right direction."

Despite his criticism of Pirelli, the seven-time champion backed the tyre manufacturer to deliver an improved product during the season.

“I hope we can get some better tyres at some stage, or maybe they’ll work better in places where it’s not so hot," he added. "I’m sure the progress through the year will get to that place.”
EDIT-Yeah, Carlos was one.

Sainz encouraged by how hard drivers can push new tyres

Carlos Sainz Jnr says he believes that drivers can push more on the new Pirelli tyres for 2022 compared to previous seasons.

Formula 1 has moved to 18-inch wheels for the first time in 2022, with tyre supplier Pirelli having produced an entirely new construction of tyre to suit the bigger, lower profile wheels.

While the new Pirellis are still designed to degrade over time, Sainz believes drivers will be able to lean on them harder than in previous years.

“I am maybe a bit more encouraged by them just because they did quite a bit of testing last year – I think I did three or four days in total with the compounds and they look like they are suiting well this new generation of cars,” Sainz said.

“They look to be at least allowing you to push a bit more on them compared to other years – maybe a bit less overheating, a bit less degradation. But they’re still a tyre that degrades, a tyre that overheats… but the scale of it, for me personally, I feel like it’s a bit better and the work done by Pirelli last year and the development seems to start to pay off a bit.

Personally I wouldn't trust a thing Hamilton says about tyres. "Bono my tyres are totally gone I have to pit" then sets the fastest lap. "Bono my tyres are fine why do you want me to pit" followed by going off a cliff and crying about why didn't they pit him. The guy has zero feel for mechanical grip.

Yeah I get it man on the clothes just being "art". They're right up there with the "banana duct-taped to a wall" as testaments to the intelligence of the human race in the Clown World era. The clothes are just another thing that only the 1% have to waste their time and money on.
As I understand it, modern art is what happens when you take irony seriously. 1st, break colors and proportion, who says humans can't be painted purple and have long arms but short legs on proper torso. 2nd, break perspective, who says you have to paint the legs on different planes on a side view human? And fuck foreshortening as well.

This produced some interesting results, and this is not to say that abstract paintings can't be good. But this is also how you get critics praising chimp made paintings, literal spatters, signed urinals, a conductor not even telling musicians to play (and getting applauded for his trouble) and whatever those clothes are.

Modern art is what happens when the entire industry is one giant money laundering scheme that needs more physical assets to facilitate the scale of the laundering.

One example that typifies this is that when Mexico required full infomation on the buyer of artworks sales dropped by 70% read more here.

Lewis stated in the press conference he will be more aggresive this year.
Difference is Hamilton has shown himself incapable of driving with controlled aggression. When he gets aggressive 9 times out of 10 it ends up with him and the other car out. See all his battles against Button, Rossberg and Vestappen. He needs to have a car that let's him be free and clear or at least able to just drive around the opposition, when it gets wheel to wheel we've seen what's happens over and over again.

Sky F1 right into 2021 again rather than getting the fuck on with this new season we've been looking forward to for years.

Well, well. Glad they didn't sweep this under the rug. Will there be transparency and the amount of fine disclosed? Let's see if the transparency push is across the board or just for certain events.

HAMILTON AND FIA ‘WORKED TOGETHER’ ON FINE HE OWES FOR GALA SNUB
42 mins ago
By Josh Suttill

Mercedes Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton has revealed that the fine he’ll receive for missing the mandated end-of-season FIA prizegiving ceremony last year will be put towards helping underprivileged students.

Scorned by a controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton and his Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff elected to skip the annual FIA gala on the Thursday following the race.

Hamilton’s failure to attend was a clear breach of Article 6.6 of the sporting regulations, which states “drivers finishing first, second and third in the championship must be present at the annual FIA Prize Giving ceremony”.

Speaking ahead of the 2022 Bahrain season-opener, Hamilton said he’s worked with the FIA and its new president Mohammed Ben Sulayem to ensure the fine is given to a good cause.

“There will be some sort of fine re: the gala,” Hamilton confirmed.

“But we’ve worked together to make sure that the money will be put towards youths from underprivileged backgrounds [to help] them get into motorsport engineering.”

Hamilton was inevitably asked if it was important that the FIA release the full report into the Abu Dhabi GP ahead of this Saturday’s meeting of the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council.

“I think it’s important that as a sport we’re transparent,” Hamilton replied. “And I had a good meeting with Mohammed last night, who agreed that’s the direction we should take as a sport.

“So I’m looking forward to seeing it come out and people to know that this sport is transparent and we’re learning from what’s happened in the past and we’ll make improvements moving forward.”

Reigning F1 world champion Max Verstappen who defeated Hamilton in the Abu Dhabi showdown, was also asked for his view.

“I don’t think we need a full report,” he said. “Of course, always every year it’s good to discuss what will happen the year before and what you can do better. I mean that’s what teams do as well, right?

“You always analyse everything you do. So, yeah, we’ll find out. And of course, if things can be written down in an easier way or a way to understand the wording better [than a full report], it’s good.”

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc also highlighted the importance of “transparency” while Mick Schumacher said that F1 should “obviously try not to repeat something like” Abu Dhabi in the future.

Leclerc’s Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz hopes F1 can move on once the full report is published and read.

“Yeah, I’m obviously interested in seeing what comes out of it and what we have learned as a sport and what changes are going to be applied to make sure that such thing doesn’t repeat again,” Sainz said.

“But at the same time, I think it’s time to, as soon as it comes out and as soon as it’s analysed and read by everyone, it’s time to move on.

“We are in March 2022 and we are still talking about December 2021 and I think as a sport it’s also time to whatever comes out of that meeting, learn from it and apply the lessons learnt and don’t talk about it too much again because otherwise, we’re just going to spend too much time in the past.”

As part of the FIA’s response to the Abu Dhabi fallout, two new alternating race directors have been installed in place of the axed Michael Masi.

Eduardo Freitas and Niels Wittich have taken on the role, with the latter of which in charge for F1’s season-opener.

“None of us have had the time, it’s been flat out,” Hamilton said when asked if the drivers have met Wittich.

“I don’t know if the drivers have met him but hopefully in time, we will.

“I met Mohammed a long time ago, through an event we had 10 years ago or something like that in Dubai. So it’s good to see him in the position he’s in, adds to that diversity challenge that we’re trying to overcome.”

The drivers are also yet to be informed of the new VAR-style virtual race control system that’s been put in place to support the race directors.

Hamilton’s final question of the new pre-practice press conference asked him if he’d change his approach this season after his title fight with Verstappen last year.

“I will be a more aggressive driver this year,” was his simple reply.

“There will be some sort of fine re: the gala,” Hamilton confirmed.

“But we’ve worked together to make sure that the money will be put towards youths from underprivileged backgrounds [to help] them get into motorsport engineering.”
The arrogance of trying to dictate how a fine you are paying for breaking the rules must be spent then using that to try and gain good boy points is mind blowing. I might try that next time I get a parking ticket.

Massive amount of damage caused on that Alpine by that bump. I bet they won't have that many spares this early in the season either.

I saw last night in an article they had new graphics. I hope they do show the tire compound each driver is on at all times. They surely have the capacity to add an extra letter after each name. If they cant do that, colour-code the names or something to define current tire.

I don't expect much out of this FP1 given it is not representative of the track conditions when they will do Q and R. But FP2 should give a bit of a picture with luck.

Also, don't forget to get the picks in before tomorrow for our internal competition!

Damn, I just checked @New Fag and there are 47 teams (someone must have only entered 1 team) in your league this year! We had 12 or 14 last season. Also, I see that in addition to me, Russell Greeeeeer, a 2nd lolcow has decided to compete. Welcome to whomever is RPing as that fat redneck gunted fellow. All we need is DSP and Chris Chan now. And welcome to all the others who have entered. I noticed there have been some newer posters in the last few months. I have been in this thread since the start (my first post is #2) and its great to see it has grown in interest since those days.

They need to change the font of the tyre indicator on the graphics. That m in yellow looks far too close to McDonald's logo.

Looks like Ham will have to skip a weekend with a Grade A+ high class lady of the evening. Feel bad for the dude, must be a severe strain on his pocketbook.

Yeah, that FP2 was interesting indeed. Williams confirmed to be bottom feeders (using same slim type sidepod design as Merc it should be noted). Haas looking good for points. Bottas and Russell ahead of Clown. Alonso best of the rest? McLaren do look like they are going to suffer and have to sacrifice performance to finish the race. Come Qualifying, I can see George ahead of Ham and both Mercs in lower end of Top 10 at end of Q. If they are lucky. All based on what I just watched of course.

Waiting for one of the journalists to provide some long run data to see how that looks.
