There's just something weird about that happening every fucking time.

The conspiracy theorist in me says that destroying that helicopter destroyed evidence of something.
Bin Laden's explanation never really sat well with me - "the highly experienced pilot forgot there would be decreased lift next to a wall and crashed it". They did a ton of practice runs.

I sincerely hope that this is their plan to coast on in to the midterms making gun control their top priority. This is exactly what they should do to get their support back and ensure a blue wave!
They fucking KNOW what we're heading for, and they want as many people disarmed as possible (in Dwarf Fortress).

That was the issue though

In the practice runs the fence was chain link, the real fence wasn't

So the roter blast could blow through the chain link but not the solid fence which pushed the tail around.

The guy who played the gubmint hating lolbert in Parks in Recreation is a bleeding heart Democrat.

Its surprising when some actors are total opposites of what they are in real life.
True. Do you know that Fraiser was ment to be a bleeding heart Democrat in the show and we all know that Kelsy Grammer is a Republican in real life. I guess certain actors are able to separate themselves form their characters beliefs.

plow in at full speed, crash, blow shit up and get evac
sounds reasonable enough for me

The US equipment in Afghanistan was probably payment to the Taliban for allowing Americans safe passage out during their ignimonious retreat

Hey, about that...

I'm kind of surprised there's no thread about it but honestly the fucking ineptitude of the failure of the Administration that controls the dementia corpse that is Joe Biden knows no bounds, and no-one should be surprised by anything that happens.

Joe Biden could decide tomorrow that he's going to launch nukes at every majority Republican state capitol and I wouldn't be that shocked. I'm just kind of numb to how god-damned awful every pinko in DC is.

At the end of the day, at least back in the 1970s, Jimmy Carter's heart was in the right place. At least Bill Clinton knew to fuck secretaries, and not the country (for his first term).

But after 2000? You know there's people who say "Wow what if the world did end in 2012 and we're all experiencing some kind of quantum Hell", but honestly I'd say it was probably around 2008. Maybe even 2000. I never thought I'd live to see something this awful. Take a look at that. Nine thousand US citizens - not advisors, not "people who we said could be citizens because they can read Pashto and (probably) aren't lying to us about where an IED is" but actual United Fucking States citizens.

Think about the small town with the pretty historic thing you went to, recently. Or the suburb with the great Italian place. Or the small baseball stadium you saw a spring training game in. Imagine the feds taking the entirety of everyone around you and shipping them bodily to Afghanistan, and then turning around and looking you dead in the eye and saying "That didn't just happen."

Rate me late if you want but...goddamn.

Relevant excerpt below
On August 17, 2021, and at the height of evacuation efforts, senior State Department officials leading the evacuation task force indicated there were 10,000 to 15,000 Americans in Afghanistan, according to the F-77 report.12 By August 31, when the president ordered an end to evacuation operations, State and DoD had evacuated approximately 6,000 American citizens.

So, the Democrats historically have two major flaws, the eponymous Twin Follies.

1: They tend to laser focus in on what they believe to be the solution to any given problem. The more severe the problem, the more they focus in on that solution and the less any other solution is even considered.

2: They delay solving issues that are not immediately problematic. Problems that are not of immediate concern are delayed "Because they are a problem for later". This often results in them ignoring major flaws that are not immediately an issue as a problem for another time.
Hyperfixation, to the expense of other important matters. Seething rage at anything and anyone that contradicts them and proves them wrong. Ineffectual gaslighting, handicapped by their own inability to keep a narrative straight. Complete inability to read a room or understand the people. A near fanatical obsession with 'science' and stats to try and explain people and the world instead of observing and picking up cues like a normal person. Doubling down on things that make people go what the fuck, on the vain hope that if they power through it will make sense in the end.

Guys, is the Democratic Establishment Autistic?

the left really fucking hate the 2nd amendment and want it gone. However, they can't find a way to do it because of the implications and thermonuclear backlash if they ever outright try it. Hence gun control being akin to how the GOP deal with abortion: death of the amendment by a thousand papercuts.

similarly, actually amending the constitution is complicated and damn near impossible and the only time we ever repealed an amendment was with Prohibition and even then, that took about 12-13 years before it could be done and even then, only because it was a horrible idea pushed by progressives and feminazis of the day when most working men were off to war in WW1.
When will they give up is the real question since they overall keep losing ground.

Though the thing is that many of the old guard liberals like Shannon Watts want the 2nd amendment gone.

The newer bunch of liberals and progressives are a split.

Though there is a correlation between college, youth, female and household income when it comes to the biggest opposition to the 3nd amendment.

There are also sheboons and niggreses who want the 2nd amendment gone because their niglet spawn, who like guns, keep shooting each other for honor.

FTFY.

~9,000+ left in Afghanistan~
Yeah, not only does that number not surprise me, it wouldn't surprise me if it was higher. I hear that a bunch got smuggled/bought their way out, but nevertheless it would justify that $100 Million "humanitarian" payment we gave to the Taliban as well. There is just no way we got anywhere close to everyone out, even those who were based in Kabul had a really hard time. And these fuckers want to tell me that aid workers in ultra-rural fucking middle of nowhere Afghanistan made it out!

I fail to mention the discrepancy between pre-panic evacuation start numbers and post-panic evacuation start, which raises more than a few eyebrows.

I was real steaming mad at the time it was going on, and as so many of my buddies have told me, a drunk PFC could have done a better job. Quite frankly I am still mad, but the world "moved on".

Hey guys, you know all those 2,000lb BLU-109s we have here at Bagram? Use them to destroy the base before we hand it over.

Or you know, use Bagram airbase as an actual airbase to evacuate people and hold the collapsing line long enough to get our people and equipment out.

or literally fucking anything would have been better than what we did, it was so stupid it comes off as deliberate. Maybe it was.

Princess Leia did a better job during the Battle of Hoth.
