I think the main distinction there is that the FLQ was, generally speaking, a relatively small and violent vanguard terrorist organization. There weren't that many of them, and their violent terrorist actions did not exactly endear them to many members of the public. And even in that scenario, Pierre Trudeau caught a lot of flak for doing what he did in his "Just Watch Me" moment. Those were violent terrorists who were conducting bombings, abducting foreign diplomats, and so on. Quite different from deploying the army to gun down peaceful protesters over honking their horn.

As much as they're trying to meme it as not-actually-peaceful, and assert that the honks are "sound torture," and so on, it's hyperbole and honking is not comparable to real terrorism. It would not be well-received; it would be a PR nightmare, and Canada's military is probably not strong enough to deal with a popular uprising after years of major neglect. Especially if most of the military is busy fighting in Eastern Europe.

I mean after a few days of being stuck inside and food supplies running short people will get desperate. If staying inside means hearing honking like it's a 1am bathroom in a club or going out to said club there will be a crowd just there to party. As for the military if you think they use live ammo on that crowd and that doesn't lead to a protest turning into a civil conflict let me sell you a bridge buddy.

Even if they use lethal force and go full crackdown. You do realize that the border between the US is mostly undefended. You also realize that the American border is notorious for smuggling in drugs, money, and guns for designer drugs, guns, and money.

The truckers failed and no agreements were reached..... In a completely different matter the restrictions are going to be lifted in a couple days....

NYC had a 5,000 person protest in Autumn of last year, those organizers should be taking notes and starting contact with truckers in their area. Bonus points if it can happen simultaneously with the DC protest.

So I've been watching the guy Ottawalks, he's had really good coverage of everything every day. He just nearly got run over as he was walking between two trucks by a fast moving vehicle!

The federal district in DC and Manhattan are allergic to trucks. As in, it's a major no-no to bring big rigs in there. Something happened in September years ago. I've forgotten.

I remember the one! Unfortunately I was out on business in Cape May and it had come and gone by the time I returned home. I desperately wanna show up to one of these strikes and treat it like pride parade to spite all those bugmen in the West Village.
