I am surprised that Penny is allowing the tranch to go to another furry convention, considering the Kindness drama and losing a core member of the cult because of it.

I think Kindness was a pretty unique experience. As much as I would love BPD nutters to hasten the dramatic demise of the Tranch, even most BPDs are not as... special as our robot baby voiced by birds.

There's some potential risks with going to DenFur. Bonnie and Kindness might be there and create drama. Rioley might confront them. They might end up associated with another cumpizza scandal. Someone might offer to have sex with Kevin and force him to come up with excuses for why he's turning them down.

Mainly though, I can't see how they can afford it. They're not the sponsored charity. Remember they dumped their old merch and alpaca shavings out on Pine Ridge? What are they going to sell? If they want new merch they're going to have to pay to get it made. Right now their main source of income (grifting) is running low and they're having to do odd jobs even if they're skimming money off the Lakota.

Is this literally just Mxtress indulging Kevin while the spectre of bankruptcy looms over the Tranch?

IIRC Owls are symbols of death in a lot of plains tribes. Lots of people dying in the night, Owls being silent and pouncing on things, etc

Positive-ish, as they still are a symbol of death but could be the spirit of a loved one checking in rather than a malicious spirit.

Native people have a very complicated narrative and history with owls. Some tribes, when being "civilized", watered down their traditions so a nuanced view of an owl as being a spirit trying to communicate something to you became OWLS BAD OMEN.

But even if some tribes have positive views of owls, it's still generally a good idea to not give Indigenous people owls in general. You don't know how that particular person feels. My tribal traditions hold that the owl is generally a bad omen, but I personally maintain positive (if still a bit spooked) views of owls.
