I still personally believe that Shatner and Takei are both equally shitty histrionic people, and their actions over the previous decades have more than proven that... Good for Shatner that he recently went into space though.
I like both of them although Shatner came across a lot better in their most recent encounter. Attacking him right after this is a bad look and there was no way he wasn't going to get massively dunked on. I hope at least some of that shit is kayfabe.

I don't think so, their rivalry is pretty real. Takei has been able to set it aside before for the sake of work, but beyond that he's taken pot shots at Shatner in the press for decades.

I don't think you're going to be able to find anybody, myself included, who doesn't agree that George Takei is a massive faggot.

I have not, I probably won't bother tbh. I have a lot of gripes with TMP and part of it is the visuals. Those uniforms are so goddamn ugly.
I actually kinda love the Ipod style of TMP and wished we saw more of it, although they were a real bitch to wear according to everybody. Not easy to go to the bathroom either.

Yes I see your point, its not easy to designate rank, and the auxiliary uniforms look kinda shit. But Shatner looks so good in white and blue. I do wonder what the lore for the belts are.

I just have such an appreciation for all the fat they trimmed from the directors cut. There's no pointless reaction shots and distracting effects. The new scenes previously cut out actually add to the tension and mystery elements too. There's much more focus on the danger of this thing and how utterly screwed they are if they have to fight it.

Plus There's a lot of little things I like such the enterprise's warp nacelles in window shots. They put in a lot of effort to make it feel more tight and concise.

Both of them are professional actors and therefore exceptional people, but Shatner has a good sense of humor and has done a lot more with his life than Star Track while Takei is still seething about not getting enough lines on a low budget TV show that was cancelled 52 years ago.

Advantage: Shat

I am le trole. I am le trole 2021. I will be 90 fucking years old and go up into space and come back just to taunt you, you faggot George Takei. You will never go to space! You will never smash people on Twitter like I did mocking John Flynt about moon rocks!

Ree harder faggot

There really should be more posts about Shatner's best tweets. I saw a handful recently and he was just artfully pissing off the blowhards over there.

Upon rewaching Chain Of Command I & II, i really wish Jellico had tossed Riker out an airlock instead of just relieving him of duty. Jesus what a whiny unprepared cunt he turned out to be when the stakes are raised. Especially his conversation with Jellico in his quarters when he has to fly the shuttle drives me mad:

"You've got everybody wound up so tight, there's no joy in anything."

That line. That fucking line makes me wish for an alternate take with a quick drumhead court-martial that ends with Riker getting his insubordinate ass hanged in the cargo bay.

War is not joyful. Preparations for an imminent shooting war get people tense. The crew and officers need to fucking snap to and up their game, not bitch about the new captain being hard and expecting results.

Fuck Riker.

Riker is a question mark to me. He's so career-minded that he ignored Troi and stuck the boot in his brother's ass. Then you have other times where he's a maverick; the cocky space ace who doesn't play by anyone's rules.

So which is it? Apollo or Starbuck?

I still think the funniest thing about all that is when Deanna went into his office thinking she could sweet talk him into easing up on the crew. By the time she walked out she ended up having to give away all of her "uniform" dresses to goodwill.

He's apparently been Picard's XO for fifteen years, so he doesn't seem to want to actually advance his career beyond that. Hell, he might as well get some from Troi, because who would care anyway?

Jellico simply takes no guff from counselors.

And what the hell did she expect? That "please ease up on people because they've never worked hard ever" shit might fly with Picard when he's romping through the galaxy visiting the alien race of the week, but there may be an actual war on soon so quit bitching and change into a proper uniform.

Guinan was by far the supreme counselor.
