Augie being one of the only few to point out Willymac's chimping out bullshit in his latest stream was pretty cathartic. I'm surprised Deorio didn't jump onto Augie's stream to try to control the narrative like he always does. He's the one who keeps trying to push the idea that Willy isn't terminally online, and that he "has a life" as an excuse for him constantly getting things wrong or leaving out information that (either intentionally or unintentionally) ends up sweeping for Destiny.

I like to call that the Total Biscuit defense. Willy job is to talk about internet drama and your excuse for getting things wrong or not understanding basic internet culture cant be "I'm not online alot and cant follow drama all the time". It makes me MATI because it literally is your job and what you have chosen to do. You cant just hand wave or away like it is nothing.

Can somebody explain to me why people hated Total Biscuit? I just remember all of the dickriding after he died. I wasn't around for his prime years.

He was at first if not pro gamergate, at least not against it.
Then he had a spergout on a convention because some tranny freaked out bc an attended asked the panel whether "traps are gay". He was responsible for removing that attendee from the convention bc tranny cried

I used to watch commentary channels, but after BigBunjee got banned, I pretty much tuned out. He was the first interesting commentary channel in a long time that made content that wasn't "just insert popular YouTuber situations is crazy," and he didn't just pump out 100-plus videos of stream clip slop covering the "popular YouTuber situation." He made quality, funny videos that you actually remembered after clicking off of them. Now commentary is basically just brain rot.

This is the sad part about YouTube now: it's basically slop for people to listen to in the background, while the people who actually paid attention to videos and sat down and treated it like, you know, watching a video rather than listening to a fat man rambling in the background are slowly dying out. YouTube has basically run off every interesting YouTuber, and every interesting YouTuber who isn't banned has had issues with censorship. Most new content today is completely forgettable and replaceable. Will anybody remember Nick Doreo's latest stream in 3 years? Probably not.

Exactly, people remembered the streams where stuff happened. I remember I looked forward to Augie's streams and trolling his chat, and even when I disagreed with his takes, I still enjoyed watching his videos. Now I can't even keep up with commentary drama anymore, and if you want to find the origins of the drama, it's probably buried under 100 videos of "insert-person-situationIs crazy;" it's just not worth my time anymore. I already have politics to keep up with; commentary stuff just doesn't go into my daily news diet anymore. It's the sad but true reality of the state of modern YouTube.

When Turkey Tom's channel transitioned from the quality video essay guy who talked about Kiwi Farms stuff to the slop generator machine that's become indistinguishable from AI, that's when the commentary community started to change. The tipster drama was funny, but after the entire commentary community unraveled with Augie leaving, we were left with Mutahar turkey tom and other slop generators who make pointless content designed to waste your time. No more funny drama, just pure pointless slop.

My hate for him comes from yhe fact he wad a slimy self righteous who would dodge criticism but going "ohh I'm not a real video game reviewer I just just give first impressions" then will go on a give blatant things wrong about a game or bitch about mechanics of a genre he hates. That or his fans would just bring up how brave he is working while he was dying of cancer while not setting up his wife in any possible way.

I know he had gamergate drama but even before that he was just a whiny faggot that people only took seriously because Americans are retards who think British accent = Smart.

I gotta echo the sentiment that the commentary community feels....really dead. It's like a ghost town, at least when it comes to quality. I'm sure lots of people with smaller channels are uploading, but it's all just stream or bootleg leafy with performative politics or shitty copying of each other.

"THE [PERSON] SITUATION IS [ADJECTIVE]" or it's dog piling on bullshit. And granted, that was also the case back in 2016 with outliers like Elvis The Alien who covered all sorts of people.

Idk, feels like I'm looking at a junkyard that just smells of piss and garbage instead of something moderately entertaining like it used to be.

I think perhaps it is just me, like other kiwis here, outgrowing the community. I don't even follow this thread regularly because I'm so....out of tune with everything and I have no intentions to care.
 
Lerix (Liam Donovan) started covering drama again in a recent stream, and his new audience of teenagers were begging him to put a trigger warning for the fucking BradTaste situation (and actually adds it) and that Brad should get 10 years minimum in prison.
