Some of them are decent. I've watched a few all the way through--mostly those that are in story-driven series I like that I do not have any intention of purchasing the system required to play them--and I tend to prefer the ones where the individual playing doesn't talk much, if at all.

I think Let's Plays are worthless. The only thing they serve to do, is spoil the entire game for those dumb enough to watch and all the player is doing, is yacking and commenting for no good reason.

^It's not spoiling if you've already beaten or have seen a no-commentary walkthrough of the game. As I said before, I like to see how others will react.

That's how I feel about day one LPs. What's the point? You're not going to have anything interesting to say about the game, it's just going to be, "Huh, I'm in a room. There's some guys over there. Now we're fighting. I win. Oh, hey, what's this?" for ten or twenty hours. I can see maybe a 'first impressions' video showing off the first hour or so, just so people can get an idea of what it's like, but why do the whole game?

Exactly. I also just avoid the games I want to play but haven't such as "A Machine For Pigs". Most of the stuff I watch is for games I've beaten or have no intention of playing. :)

I probably watch more LP videos than I watch TV (I only really watch football and the occasional short series). A few of my favourites are a few off Something Awful (Lowtax and Schmorky, Slowbeef and Diabetus, ChipCheezum and a couple of others. I don't have an account though, what sort of dweeb pays for an internet forum???), Hat Films, Das24680 and One F Jef. I generally try to avoid LPers who put on a fake persona while playing, like those 'angry/irate' gamers, and the horror game screamers like PewDiePie.

The thing is, it isn't just some dude watching a video going 'Whelp, this happened........ and now this is happening......... oh wow, that happened too!'. The good LPers find interesting things to say, whether it's funny commentary, or banter between multiple people, or insight into the way they play. While the majority of LPers do act like you say, and spend hours spouting inane rubbish, the good ones can be really entertaining.

I usually find a LP of some obscure game that I'm curious about but not sure if it's worth buying yet. Even then I usually only watch maybe the first hour of gameplay before I'm able to make up my mind. I liked CannibalK9's LP of The Void, his voice wasn't an earsore and he didn't prattle on about nothing.

BikdipOnABus and that's it. His dry, no-bullshit commentary is the exact type of humor I like, and I watch his stuff more for that than I do for the actual gameplay.

Let's Plays are a hit or miss for me.

I mostly only follow LP channels with co-commentators. Just listing to one guy talk to himself for half an hour gets old fast.

Lets plays are entirely personality driven, so only people with personalities that are "Eccentric" really work. Watching Joe blow Play something like Resident Evil 3 would be, and is boring. Watching CorySpazkid have a stroke isn't

If I'm going to watch one I'd rather watch ones without commentary. It gets annoying to hear some retard continually talking when I want to just see if the gameplay would tickle my fancy.

If I want to know in depth stuff about the story or the background I'll look it up and read it thanks.
