So I don't usually go in for 'what kind of gamer are you' type quizzes, but this one seems a lot more indepth than most of them usually are. It basically breaks down your motivation for playing games games based on what sort of games you like and what you like to do in them.

I think it underestimated the action component a little...when it asked my three favourite games, I said Crusader Kings 2, Dark Souls and XCOM, but I could have just as easily put something like STALKER instead of XCOM. Otherwise, it's reasonably accurate though.

What sort of results do you guys get when you take the test? Do you think they're accurate?

My results don't surprise me one iota. RPG's, Adventure games, and collectathons have always been some of my favorite games ever since I was a kid, and I've never been super competitive either. Living with two roommates who are deep into the fighting game community has definitely revealed that aspect of me. This isn't too say I don't love a good Smash battle or kart race with friends, but nothing takes a hold of me more than exploring new worlds on my own.

(Is there any way to describe your love for certain kinds of games without sounding like a massive faggot?)

Makes sense mostly, though I do like action games a lot, especially sandboxes like GTA and Saint's Row, though they take less skill to master unlike, say, Dark Souls (It's more of an Action RPG I believe, so I am not sure if it counts). It's mostly a childhood thing. Currently I tend to gravitate towards turn-based/real-time RPGs with a great focus on story and characters like Persona 3/4 and Dragon Age. Creativity is a bit of a hit-and-miss, I have lotsa of ideas that I can put in a game, but I mostly don't implement them. Played a lot of Minecraft back in the day.

Social is lowest, unexpectedly. Not much of a MMO, MOBA or multiplayer-centered games fan. I do like some L4D2 now and then though.

Not exactly much of a surprise, aside from the fact that Social came out as high as it did, given that I tend to studiously avoid the actual community part of online games. I used to be into tanking and healing in WoW back when I played, so I suppose it fits. I'm also a really lazy gamer; I play strictly for fun, not to really challenge myself or anything.

Trans and non-binary gamers have a distinct motivation profile. They are most driven by Fantasy (being someone else, somewhere else) and Design (self-expression, customization), and they tend to be much less interested in Power (leveling up, unlocking skill trees), Strategy (thinking/planning ahead), Challenge (high difficulty, practice, mastery), and Competition (PvP, arena, leaderboards).
