Back when I was a kid it was probably Dragonball (Z) or Sailor Moon. The first anime I remember was a little known film called Little Nemo, which I loved for some reason. Then Pokemon came around, and Cardcaptor Sakura, which was boring as fuck but I still watched. When I was 13, Akira was the God's greatest gift to humanity, then anime really fell by the wayside.

For the longest time I thought it was Voltron after seeing it on Toonami. Apparently it was Noozles back in the late eighties, followed by Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics.

Mine was without a doubt Pokemon, that is the first piece of Japanese media in my memory banks. Started with some videotapes of the first season and the Mewtwo movie.

Nick Jr. was often one stepping stone in the first exposure to anime before you really knew what it was. Other familiar titles I can recall Nick played include Belle & Sebastian, Maple Town and The Adventures of the Little Koala.

That was where I saw the Noozles too.

Akira and Ghost In The Shell.

Pokemon. 100%, my first anime was Pokemon.

I was going to say Dragon Ball Z or Pokemon, but then I realized that that's technically not true because I watched Alfred J. Kwak and Calimero when I was really little, and those are technically speaking anime.

I have no idea which of the two I watched first though.

It was probably the 1990 Moomins series, whenever it aired here. Moomins are the shit dude.
They never aired that over here, at least if they did, I wasn't aware of which channel did, but they certainly weren't part of my childhood.

Yeah, I was just looking it up to see when it aired here in Britain and it says it was never broadcast in the States although we got a dubbed version for the BBC. We didn't get a great deal of anime televised in the early 90's over here so it was one of those rare occasions when we got something the US didn't.

I noticed the dub was handled by an outfit in Cardiff, Wales. Those guys did a fine job hiding their accents as I thought it was some North American effort.

I believe my first was Speed Racer, but the show that got me into anime was Fullmetal Alchemist

The first FMA episode I watched was about Shou & Nina Tucker.....

My first was Speed Racer. I was about 8, and I loved it, but my mother threw the tape out because she thought that it was inappropriate. Something to do with people actually getting injured when cars crashed or actual peril being involved.
The first anime I watched as an anime, rather than a cartoon, was this:

And yes, this was back in the days of VHS. I still had the tape until recently, when my mother threw it out while helping me move house. I swear to God...

Sounds no different from the moms of America who threw out their child's comic books once they left for college.

Pokemon. Trigun was what made me want to search for more.
