Probably Digimon, back on Fox Kids, although I don't think I really considered it as anything other than another cartoon. I think Dragon Ball Z, during its time on Toonami, was the first time I was aware that I was watching anime.

I'd say the first anime i was ever exposed to was Pokemon or Yugioh, but once I had learned that anime was it's own sort of subgenre with a whole little culture surrounding it the first one I watched the whole way through was Death Note

Technically speaking it was Maya the Honey Bee, since it's a cult classic children's cartoon here in Poland, but as for an actual anime I watched then it would be Initial D, a petrolhead weeaboo classmate talked me into checking it out and I ended up watching all of the main stages.

Depends on what you mean by 'first'.
First watched? Pokemon or YuGiOh.
First watched because I wanted to rather than 'because it was on'? Bakugan and Beyblade.
First series I went out of my way to watch online rather than just what was on TV? Well, Youtube's old algorithm showed me a clip of Rosary + Vampire of all things. I wanted to see if it was a real show so I looked and watched it. Same story with the second series I found, Elfen Lied. Still don't know why those shows' clips appeared, I never searched anime stuff on Youtube, but I guess all worked out?
