Apparently "Millennials" don't want to touch icky steaks, chicken and fish before it's cooked.

Millennials are ruining the meatpacking industry.

"Customers, particularly younger ones, are quite scared of touching raw meat. These bags allow people, especially those who are time-poor, to just ‘rip and tip’ the meat straight into the frying pan without touching it,”

One woman wrote on Twitter: “So they are adding MORE plastic packaging when other retailers are trying to reduce? Crazy @Sainsburys ! If you can't bear to touch raw meat you shouldn't be eating it.”

Not at all surprised this is the UK. Still, it's kind of shocking that a country that once endorsed fresh from the tin sardines on toast for tea would now be such wimps they can't touch raw meat.

Ah "millennials" screwing up the meat packing industry but always finding new way to revolutionize the fudge packing industry. :story: Seriously though nut the fuck up and just wash your hands after.

Touching raw meat is alright, it has a nice texture to it, but I hate touching it if it's really bloody :c

I'll admit that I hate touching raw meat, but I just wear gloves like a pussy.
Nitrile gloves are awesome for a lot of culinary jobs. I got really sick of having to worry about the contamination factor and quit preparing it at home unless it was thanksgiving or something. I quit using eggs for baking and that made things way simpler too (like you can actually taste the batter for something without worrying about getting sick). Simpler is better when you're just learning to cook like most young people are.

Nobody 'likes' touching raw meat. But you do it because you're not a pussy. I think I see where they went wrong...

So are they afraid that they'll get ebola, or the plague from mere contact with the stuff? Or do they just hate feeling "icky" after the most recent spa visit? Not that it matters, just curious which is the prime motivator for yet another failure-to -adult moment from our young'uns.

I can't say I exactly like touching it, but hey, people are going to be people I guess.

"It found that 37 per cent of millennials, born after 1980, preferred not to touch raw meat due to the fear of contaminating the food."

37% I hope the sampling size was large enough to matter.

This is just straight up pathetic. Normal people just make sure to wash their hands and cooking utensils. Washing veg or fruit properly is more hassle than dealing with raw meat ffs. Pussies.

Funny; I've always been afraid that the raw meat would contaminate me.
