Maybe this doesn't need a seperate post but I actually had no idea what whump meant until watching the video so I'm basically a boomer at this point. (Although I did know what hurt/comfort was.) Like if you told me "Ah my blorbos from my shows got whumped in my dead dove" I would have to look up what you meant. (unfortunately)

The whumpapedia stuff is just weird to me as opposed to disturbing but maybe its just because of the sheer autism to cataloguing.... whatever this is.

There are wikis on the most random weird shit you can think of that some random weirdo cataloging moments in fiction of "whumping" (which I thought was just another way of saying "glomping") doesn't surprise me at all.

Hillary doesn't seem to be a stranger to the oddities of Internet culture, though seeing someone discover something "new" and then having to describe it to an audience is always fun. At the sake of our sanities.

Ever wondered which fantasy series have completely different values to the modern leftist globohomo agenda? Well you don't need to worry any longer! In his new video, Daniel "I cry while jerking off over e-thots" Greene will tell you exactly which works of a bygone era are actually horrible pieces of solidified racism and misogyny whose authors should either be canceled or exhumed so we can place them on trial!

Edit: 6 minutes in and there's an ad read for sex toys hahahah. Guess he didn't learn from his last go around with a sex worker
That sex toy ad is something else.

Some men have no shame.

I'm just stunned by how bad the editing is when he's running through the lists of books. And almost every single time, it's a different problem.
  • The book or series title is misspelled ("King Killer Chronicles" instead of The Kingkiller Chronicle).
  • He mispronounces the author's name ("Zelany" instead of Zelazny).
  • The written title doesn't match what he reads out (saying "The Abhorsen" while writing "Abhorsen").
  • He includes articles in some titles but not others for no consistent reason (The Book of the New Sun).
  • The written title's timing isn't synced up with when he says it (Realm of the Elderlings, The Riddle Master, etc.).
  • The title disappears quickly instead of staying while he talks about it even though almost every other one stayed (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Belgariad, etc.).
  • The title doesn't even change from the last entry (Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn doesn't get its title; neither does The Earthsea Cycle).
  • Words in the title aren't capitalized properly ("Left hand of Darkness").
  • He uses a title for an overall series that isn't the proper title or even a common colloquial title for it (just saying "Middle Earth").
  • The new title overlaps with the previous one that it's replacing (Discworld, Dragonlance, etc.).
  • The title is unfinished gibberish ("The Sto" instead of The Stormlight Archive, "D" instead of The Pern Series).
  • Elements from the info box don't disappear correctly, and hang over the next shot for a second (Xanth).
It's honestly impressive. It's the kind of thing where you have to stop and wonder if this is some kind of elaborate performance art and he's doing it on purpose.

And this kind of shoddy effort, combined with his new sex toy ad (how is this normal), is supposed to "... give [viewers] a sneak-preview of what [Daniel imagines] Fantasy News looking like in the new year," apparently?
Wew lad. Not a good impression to give.

Was Alchemised the Harry Potter rapefic or the Handmaid's Tale rapefic? Anyway, it amuses me that it wins an award alongside "How to Kill a Witch: The Patriarchy's Guide to Silencing Women".
The Harry Potter enemy to lovers fic.

Oh wait. I'm thinking of "the irresistible urge..." book. Which one IS Alchemised?

Both. Its a Harry Potter Handmaids Tale AU (alternate universe) fanfic. And enemies to lovers. And rapey.

I feel like we're not paying enough attention to this aspect of it. Legitimately unsettling.

I don't know very much about Daniel Greene, but I suspect he will never be accused of demonstrating too much dignity.

Half sounds like a fanfic of the previous fanfic.

Are books getting inbred???
the Powerless series is the inbred cousin of Red Queen. You can quite literally take a popular book and trace its genealogy through what its copied, the family tree is more like a circle in some genres.

It's so weird to see sex toys advertised on youtube- complete with newspeak smeggsy time vocab. Does no one remember how all youtube ads are absolute dogshit quality (raycon, manta sleep etc) or outright scams (honey)? Using a youtube sponsor sex toy is asking to have some chinesium burn your fanny off, jesus!

As much as I like it, several weebs admit this is becoming a danger in anime too.

She really seems as if she's trying to have it both ways. She doesn't define her terms well, and she doesn't use them consistently.
"The problem with fanfiction" is something broad when it helps her arguments, but narrow and specific and "oh I didn't actually mean that" when it helps her plug holes and avoid criticism. I don't think that she's being intentionally dishonest with this (rather that she just hasn't tried hard enough to make solid arguments, and is just going on her intuition), but it's going to come across as a motte-and-bailey tactic.
This is kind of my issue with her. I agree with many of her sentiments, but her video style is so unfocused and full of improperly formed arguments that the part of my brain that hates low-effort youtube slop immediately kicks in and forces me to shut the vid off.

I don't need a wispy woman without convictions to tell me that mass market smut and fanfiction-tier writing are literary junk food. That's self-evident. Everything beyond that devolves into weird navel gazing on her part.

That being said - it's still probably better content than publishing industry plants like Daniel Greene.

Major pooner particles all around. I think she might actually be serious about trooning out.

>Alchemised wins best debut novel
Between this and the Poppy War, I'm starting to wonder if Asian women are just uniquely horny for racist badboys.

I have (unfortunately) read Rebecca Yarros' terrible "fantasy" series and I will never understand how the standards are so low that Onyx Storm, a book where absolutely nothing of worth happens (you could've easily cut about 500 pages of our MCs wandering around and 7000 new worthless characters being introduced and Yarros pretending we will ever remember who they are), the author doesn't understand the basics of writing, the female lead spends 90% of her time lusting after her bland bad-boy boyfriend, and you basically end on the exact same cliffhanger as the last book, is considered good enough to win ANY category. I know romantasy might as well be the Retard of the Year award, but you could still find something, anything better to give the first place to.

Like, some of these books I try to be fair to and remember they're written by very young people and they might still find their voices and move on to better things. It's optimistic to a fault, I know. But Yarros is in her 40s or so, the way she writes actually infuriates me.

I haven't read Alchemised, but leafing through it it does at least seem somewhat more competently written, especially compared to Yarros, so I'm honestly fine with it winning debut novel. It also makes anti-Rowling trannies seethe, so there's always that.

I don't know who this smarmy looking douchebag is, but
Hate to say it, but I used to be a fan. In fact, it was his channel that brought me back to finally finish the Wheel of Time. 😳

In my defense he wasn't always quite this annoying. He also never advertised what a degenerate he is.

I believe he claims to have both dyslexia and ADHD. At least one, at any rate. So you're a big meanie picking on the disabled is probably how that would get spun. Still with however many hundreds of thousands of subscribers he has you'd think he could afford an editor.

edit2: Also, never ceases to amaze me how much content these goons lift right off Reddit.

I used to willingly watch Channel Awesome. I didn't even especially like it, I just thought it was soothing, mildly amusing noise.

Then Diamanda Hagan hosted an episode and I noped the fuck out.
