HOW DO YOU NOT CONSTANTLY USE A FRIDGE? I had a small dorm fridge that lasted five years.

It's not really a fridge, it's a thermoelectric cooler. Checkmate. :smug:

Xbox has possibly the worst video game marketing I've ever seen.
What is the first clip even trying to say? That physical games are a thing of the past? That people used to WAIT for high quality games to drop? Yeah, that was confusing to say the least. Not as bad as Wii U's marketing, but it comes close.

I had to put on my thinking cap for this one but i think theyre trying to say that game rental availability used to be scarce and now since its digital you can rent through gamepass whenever you want.

Addition:
I looked it up and it seems game rental only made up like 3% of blockbuster’s profit at peak.
If theyre trying to re-market game rentals instead of going the “you dont need to own anything” route, good luck.

I gotta hit it with another one because after sitting on it the shots of this are kind of bizarre. There's an implication that instead of going outside and interacting with society you can now veg out in a dark empty room all day. Wouldn't it have looked better to have a shot where he's playing in a well-lit room on a couch with some friends (wait never mind games don't do couch coop anymore).
Notice that he's playing on a PC. It looks like he could even be on Steam Big Picture mode. "This is how we play now" is likely referring to people leaving the Xbox platform entirely, or at least it looks that way.
Notice that none of the games shown are actual Xbox exclusives. In the "That Was Then" scene, the game he is picking up is Gears of War, which was an exclusive at the time.
The message is also a little odd because he still gets the game either way. It wouldve been more effective messaging if he didn't get it in the first scene.

If I were tasked with redoing this throwaway ad that was probably made in a couple of hours:
- "That was then" would show a bunch of kids waiting by the rent return for someone to walk by with a sports game they want (or something high demand like that), an exclusive for sure. Someone returning the game walks up and ignores them and puts it in the return anyway.
- "This is now" would show a group of mid 20s adults just navigating to the game in the store and (via movie magic) it starts up instantly. The exiting shot is them having fun with the game.

I cannot comprehend how this is difficult for a billion dollar tech giant to get right?

Eh, I’ve seen a lot worse. But it speaks volumes when you think about it beyond face value.

Then: You have your Xbox, surrounded by Xbox exclusives that you’ve already poured your heart into, eagerly waiting for the next one. You’re so excited when it finally arrives because you know it’ll be great.

Now: You’re always playing something on PC. There’s no more exclusives, no more excitement, no more freaking Xbox… but you’re always playing something I guess.

Good enough idea, bad execution.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the competition between the new Steam Machines and the new Xboxs.
Xbox Full Screen Experience can now turn Windows 11 gaming PCs into “consoles”
Microsoft is bringing the Xbox Full Screen Experience to standard Windows 11 gaming PCs, just a week after Valve introduced its Steam Machine, a SteamOS based gaming PC. The feature is now live as a preview in Windows 11 Insider build 26220.7271 on the Dev and Beta channels. To use it you also need to enroll in the Xbox Insider PC gaming preview as well.

This is the first time the mode runs on non handheld devices through official builds. Until now it was limited to Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handhelds and a preview on MSI Claw models. Support only started to roll out to other Windows handhelds, such as Lenovo Legion Go, on November 21.

Xbox Ones are confusing consoles. You need an Internet connection to access your downloaded/installed titles.
