Halo 4 was the last new game I ever bought on Xbox. As much as that game was a dumpster fire, it’s better than most of their games that came out since then.
I completely forgot about Halo 4. Wasn't that the game where they build up cortana and master chiefs relationship? It wasnt that bad I think

I'm not sure how they're pulling this off, but looks legit on their Facebook. If this is real then good move. Of course doesn't say how long it'll be like this.

Exactly what will happen when Xbox inevitably dies? Do they just shut off the servers and the consoles become paperweights?
Why not? It's what happens with every dead gaming product. There sure ain't no Sega Dreamcast dialup internet service anymore. Of course, my Dreamcast still boots and plays games and never needed a network connection to begin with, but these modern tethered golems are a whole different beast.

Cancelled my Game Pass today. I really enjoyed it when I first bought my Series X, but now that the price is going up, and Xbox is releasing all their games on PS5 too going forward. I don't see the point. I haven't touched Game Pass in nearly six months at this point. Might as well save my money and then buy whatever I wanted to play on the PS5 or wait until it goes on sale.

Microsoft is intent on killing itself, I see. Larry got out while the getting was good. Retired while Xbox was still sort of respected. I'm beginning to understand why he left. When he started the weekly recap stuff, he had so much energy, and so much enthusiasm, and by the end of it, all that joy was literally gone. You could hear it in his voice. Something had happened internally that made him crack.

Microsoft makes like 98% of their yearly revenue selling terrible Enterprise products to corpos.

It's pretty clear they prefer to do that and want out of the vidya business.

Iirc the Xbox original had X-link & Insignia, basically services to allow you to play the Xbox original online again post 2010 shutdown

I just cancelled my subscription as well. I just don't game enough anymore and the titles are hit or miss as well.

I just bought Helldivers 2 and there is nothing really else I want to play.
Reminder that MS had considered upping their first party titles to $80 this year before backlash caused them to backtrack. That will be the NEXT price increase soon to make Game Pass Ultimate a great proposition value.

To be honest, I doubt Game Pass was very profitable for them in the first place. The deal really was too good to be true. It’s more like Game Pass was a loss leader, and they’re trying to stop the bleeding. But as it turns out, the model just isn’t sustainable, and it’s cheaper to go full PC as a gamer.

A cheap gaming pc and steam offer more value than an xbox with gamepass.

Their gaming handling has been atrocious. Halo, their flagship franchise and biggest system seller, hasn’t been good, let alone relevant, in decades. They bought many studios, but there are still no exclusives in sight. Imagine buying all those IPs and studios, outspending everyone, and still being dead last.
